As a newbie here I would like to say hi and to ask a question. I've heard good things and bad things about the romance socials offered from sites like Anastasia ect. My question is are they really worth going to or not?
thanks
Opinions regarding romance socials are very much split down the middle however opinions, including the opinion of Google, regarding Anastasia are 100% united that Anastasia are a scam!
In my opinion, if this is your first time, it actually helps. If you know no Russian, your options are limited, but it still helps. I tried AFA instead of Anastasia and I met a few ladies who became my good friends. The environment in these socials is geared towards meeting people, so, for me, it was a good introduction to the world of FSU ladies.
I know that other people do not like socials, but I feel different. However, I would not over do it. And I would not do it if I had close contacts with other girls already.
They are nothing but Speed Dating but in a different country. You may meet an interesting lady who might want to further correspond with you. They are very costly and are not my cup of tea.
I met my ex-Russian wife on a AFA Romance Social tour to St. Petersburg/Velikiy Novgorod Russia. It was the first time for me to travel to a FSU country and at that time I welcomed the "details" being taken care of by AFA. That was 6 years ago they did a great job, one of the owners (John) administered the trip and it went smoothly. I remember the first social in St. Petersburg there was 16 men and 290 Russian women... crazy odds but I loved the attention! Last year (2008)I again selected them for a trip to Kiev and was bitterly dissapointed... both in the administration and the quality of women at the socials. Since then I have quit socials... I started following some "tips" from the guys right here. I started using TAU2, Ukraine Date, and the Russian networking sites. I was very successful and found many interesting women. I met my current Ukrainian girlfriend in October 2008 on TAU2 and we have been together every since. After several months of correspondence we mutually became an "exclusive" couple in March 2009. I tell you all this because the Romance Socials helped me to "get my feet wet" but I would never use them now... too many other options to meet these women! The Ukraine and Russian dating sites are literally crawling with elegible women... write a letter, exchange some personal information and then... GO SEE ONE!
A few places to go to "after" you get your feet wet...

i too have been to socials, recently and in the past. I wouldn't say they are useless, but they aint what they used to be! Now attractive women can meet all the men they need indepedently via the websites you mention.
for those going to fsu for the first time though, its not a bad option. You will normally meet a decent group of guys who may become your traveling companions in the future. Its cool to know people who are going through the same thing as you.
after you get your feet wet though, you can save alot of money buy making travel arrangements and going to the socials directly. when i go now, i only pay for the socials. I save a lot of money that way.
Just get your feet wet on a hot day on Dnepr River :-)
Talent 4Africa there !!!!!!!!!
Best social you can attend if you are on the pick up trail/trial
Heading there now - temp just about hitting 30c going to be 33 today.
Of course I am not on the “pick trail” but cant help looking at the sights – just end up with a bruised back of my head from my wife’s back hand slaps !!!!!!
Hey Peter, in your PM you said you sent me an email, I never got it buddy? So hows things in Ukraine? I read your post about how stores are shutting down. Larysa was taking with friends in Mariupol yesterday, seems like the steel mills are bringing people back to work their. Maybe that's a good sign of an early turn around.
Hi Mike
Yes I did send you an email to the acc that I used b4, deleted it too, so cant resend.
Will do another later.
That’s interesting about the Steel mills - I thought the resurgences in commodities might play apart in reviving Ukraine’s main export earner.
But the problem we are seeing every where here in Kiev, is people have got no credit anymore, and those unfortunate to have borrowed in the boom (what they thought was a boom in real-estate apartment prices) are now in deep do-doo especially if they borrowed Euro or US and are Grv earners.
We just got back from “another” market shopping trip, this market last year was wall to wall with people and real busy, especially like of today, a Saturday – today a year later – literally empty. Car parks out the front of the main Kiosks that lead you into the massive market – unseen before in its history I would imagine. We got hounded every time we slowed to look at something and a couple of items we bought they buckled on price without even a push. They shop sellers are telling us too, they are not hiding the fact how grim the trade is. 30% of retail shops apparently will be closed by late Autumn – we can see 20% closed now.
The people still seem reasonably happy – so that’s good, but I think they are going to need a lot more than the export industry reviving. After the elections I predict a default which will bring many years of hardship for the average to low earners. Hope I am wrong ????
