The end of August I'll be travelling to Lviv with my girl. Does anyone have any pointers, cautions, recent experiences or general information they would like to share about this city? We plan on renting an apartment for the week and we'll travel there by train from Zaporizhzhia. I know it will be a long train ride but since she is afraid of flying... (she almost didn't get on the plane to Turkey last month) it's my only option. We'll stop off in Kiev for one night and take in a few clubs (Buddha bar etc.) in order to break up the monotony of the train trip.
Lviv (or Lvov) is the most beautiful city in Ukraine. I have never been there, but I have a very good friend who lives there and sends me photos all the time. There is much to see in Lviv, so be sure that you are ready to walk. I will go as soon as my fiancee and I decide to make a trip to Ukraine together. I want to see it with my own eyes.
Enjoy! And have a good camera to take plenty of photos. There are plenty of old churches to visit, both Orthodox and Catholic. Lviv is the place to go. No worries!
Yes it’s an interesting City with great architecture, a lot of Polish influence in design etc
Make a point of visiting the Lychakiv Cemetery. It’s an amazing place !!!!
Below are a couple of links - the Hotel link is where we stayed for 5 nights and is in the Garden zone, very nice and a nice walk down to centre. When you arrive by train - it looks a little plain and industrial, but once in centre or the other "green side" it’s a different feel.
By the way the Hotel has a great pool and has a very romantic feel to the whole plase :-)
FSULover, thanks for the encouragement about Lviv, my girl was there 10 or 12 years ago and she loved it then. Yes, I take many pictures when I'm with her... you need fotos just in case in the future you try to bring her home on a fiance visa... they are a necessary part of the application to prove you and her have been together.
Maxirat, great info! I'm now in the process of planning what we'll do for the 7 days we are there so your info will be invaluable to me. My girl mentioned that she remembered the old architecture and she loved the "old world" feel she experieced when whe was there. Thanks again!
