I want to send 3000 euro to russia i was hoping someone knows the best way to do this ?
I was also wondering does anyone know about marriage in thailand . If i was to do this can i then do a spouse visa ?
I'm australian
Have you met the lady that you intend to send EUR3000 to? If so then at your discretion, if not then a 'no no'.
If it is, putting 2 + 2 together, for her to book flights etc. to Thailand then you can do this online, most IATA airlines, including Aeroflot, have online booking facilities or there are the travel agent sites also .... then one is eliminating any risk of her making EUR3,000 out of it before doing a 'runner'.
Presuming that it is a Russian that you are thinking of marrying in Thailand then you need to Google for what documents etc. may be needed for a foreign marriage there, how long the application(s) may take etc.
I wouldn't send that much, even if I did know her. Book her flights, as Martin says. If you must send her for pocket money, Moneygram charges only $10 USD from here.
With regards to sending money, to be received in RU then it should arrive there as USD or EUR which is great, and quite economical, for those living in the lands of the USD and/or EUR.
For all others, such as those living in the land of the AUD etc, we/they get ripped off on the exchange rates by the likes of WU and this can make for a very expensive method of sending money.
I smell fish....wait a minute! euros! I went back and read again thinking it was 3000 dollars.
Current exchange rates... 3000 euros is a little less than 5000 dollars.
Given that a decent wage in fsu is let's say 200 dollars a month means this girl can live off this guys money for 2 years. That'll give her time to line up another few.
2 things here...
1. Sending money to a girl with promise of marriage. (Thailand or wherever)
2. How the f**k can it cost 3000 euros to get a girl from Russia to Thailand???
I'm pretty sure you can get a flight from Moscow to Bangkok for less than 500 euro.
Here is my copy and paste job:-
1 September 2009 227€ Finnair Sheremetyevo, Moscow Bangkok International Airport, Bangkok
11 September 2009 233€ Finnair Sheremetyevo, Moscow Bangkok International Airport, Bangkok
6 October 2009 264€ Emirates Domodedovo, Moscow Bangkok International Airport, Bangkok
1 November 2009 272€ Air China International Sheremetyevo, Moscow Bangkok International Airport, Bangkok
4 November 2009 233€ Swiss International Airlines Domodedovo, Moscow Bangkok International Airport, Bangkok
Particularly for an inexperienced traveller it might be considered reasonable, indeed wise, to take direct flights, there are plenty of them, between Moscow and Bangkok and not via Helsinki, Dubai, Zurich or some godforsaken place in China! :)
Smartmartin; I don't know what you're talking about...do you?
The flights I quoted here were direct from Moscow to Bankok using a Finnish airline or a Chinese airline or Emirates.
Where does it mention flying to Dubai Zurich or whatever?
Have you ever flown anywhere before?
For someone who says he knows about airplanes you don't seem to have travelled much.
There is no 'open skies' agreement in Russia thus I doubt that any non Russian, or Thai, airline would have traffic rights for direct flights between the two!

I have read on the net that marriage in thailand is not recognised as a true marriage by the russian federation . I was wondering if this would be a problem when doing a spouse visa . Would the australian embassy in moscow see it as a genuine marriage .I think it could be a question for the embassy although i was reluctant to call and ask them .
Yes, I do know what I'm talking about having worked in aviation for the past 33 years, yes I've flown just a few places before, enough places, and knowledge, to learn that Finnair's hub is Helsinki, Swiss's hubs being Zurich and Geneva, Emirates hub being Dubai and Air China's hub being in China.
It's not rocket science really although some people have difficulty understanding what is logical, I've never said that I particularly have a knowledge of aircraft, not the technical nitty gritty of's anyway, but I do have a profound knowledge of the airline industry and I think you'll find that you are the one that has recently made a total @rse of yourself by stating, categorically, that Finnair, Swiss, Emirates and Air China operate direct flights, with traffic rights, between Moscow and Bangkok and vice versa!
I had tried to help the guy, I have an answer to his most recent question, it's a pretty dumb question for him to ask if a little common sense and logic is applied but with, as this forum has become accustomed, his p1ss poor 'Australian' spelling, grammar and punctuation what should one expect!
As for answering his question ..... he can take a hike. :)
Clifton, with iKobo, you set up your account and with her information, address, etc. They send a card to her and then you can load it as you see fit. It's a Visa and works in any ATM that accepts Visa.
Thankyou guys for the concerns about sending money and i agree with your advice .
Baron555 i found today we have a travel passport card that works a similar way i think i will try this method .
it can be used at ATM machines in russia .
