I am wondering. Since all of the questions -- or doubts -- may arise, has anyone actually been successful in getting a visa into USA for a Russian lady? I am told embassy can be quite brutal. Is this true?
Yes, but the recent reports from the VisaJourney.com folks is that they are lightening up a bit at the US Embassy in Moscow. Not impossible but also not a slam dunk. There is no harm in trying except losing your fee.
Now, this is the Russian Federation I am talking about.
Are you saying we are all just about wasting our time, Baron? I can't believe that since I have talked to an attorney who processed several women from Ukraine.
s-m -- it is unfortunate -- or rather it is very fortunate -- that lady and I have been discussing many aspects of life -- so I am not sure what the "visa & ticket" scam is about.
I just thought I would ask. I know I can go to visa.journey etc.
It is disheartening to hear that the visa process may be that corrupt. To think I have been talking with woman almost every day - since end of Feb. And I hear that they want to know if you have studied culture etc. Of course I have.
So it is just a question to find out if anyone recently had any experience with US embassy.
It would suck to be denied when plans are already made for next summer and etc...
K-1 visas are rarely denied after they are approved in the USA (consulate in Russia or Ukraine). You just have to wait in line like everybody else and make sure that she knows enough about you when she goes to the interview.
FSULover raises a point which I can't remember seeing on here before (in my time, anyway). What does the interview actually consist of? In my case, being a New Zealander, the questions would obviously differ in some respects, but I imagine that the general thrust would still be the same. So long as it's not like Gerard Depardieu in "Green Card" being asked what sort of toothpaste she uses - being averagely unobservant, I never could remember what my ex-wife (a fellow Kiwi) used so would I have been failed?!
I guess Julian I wasn't understanding your question.
My answer concerned a FSU woman obtaining a a visitor or tourist visa to enter the US. Those are difficult to obtain.
Now K-1 or K-3 visas are approved all the time. No problem with those, as long as you follow through on all the steps.
VisaJourney.com is the place for all that information.
My RWs interview is later in September and we'll sailed through every step so far and expect to be approved no problem at the interview.
The visa & ticket scam is where the lady says she wants to visit you and she tells you she can get a visa and tells you to send money for that cost and a plane ticket and she will come. Of course she only takes the money. Your situation is different.
"And I hear that they want to know if you have studied culture etc."
Where did you hear this? Please please please go to the VisaJourney.com forums and read up on everyday experiences from Moscow and Kiev embassies. Go to the Embassy Reviews button on the top of the page and read up about everyday interview reviews. Kiev is very easy to get through and Moscow has become very similar with very friendly officers conducting the interviews.
