I used them to visit my current gf and another. all or almost all of the women I visited or corresponded with were signed up with them. I suppose I should be grateful that I found someone through them, but it wasn't without scams.
I suppose they don't have any control if a woman or an agency who are signed with them are scammers, and that's what they told me. I acknowledge that I am not out of the woods yet, but I believe the trick to this thing is to weed out the scams.
The "top ten" women will probably be saturated with suitors. Try their "quiery" feature and try to find someone who suits you, but is not as popular.
With regards to Army of Brides and, indeed, Global Ladies (or whatever GL call themselves these days) there is a post timed at 22.09.2009 5:17:55 in this thread:
that refers to a particular agency in Zaporozhye with ladies, employed to, merely sit there sending/receiving letters upon behalf of (supposed) ladies.
As even my 'arch enemy' on this forum will recall, dating back to February 2007, I was sitting in that very agency in Zaporozhye and posting, from that agency, on this forum. I was surrounded by employed ladies tapping their fingers and fast as their English skills would permit but, guess what, not a single lady who those letters were, supposedly, being received/transmitted upon behalf of could be seen in sight and, I mean, sometimes I was in that agency office for a number of hours each day and the only, non employee lady(s), I ever sighted were the one, perhaps two, lady(s) being signed up to the agency.
That agency is an affilate of City of Brides and Global Ladies (or whatever) and, Global Ladies, if you are reading this, well guess what? By contract you forbid your affiliate agencies from providing any services other than those via your own service, well welcome to Zaporozhye, Ukraine, that agency, as mentioned in the thread above, are in it to scam you whilst enticing men to Ukraine for their provided interpreter, accommodation etc. etc. etc. charges.
Not that I have inside information but, what is it they make from AoB or GL, perhaps $2.50 per letter, phuck that, let's screw the guys for $20 per apartment per night, $20 per interpreter per hour (twice the recognised average) then let's take the guys on excursions etc!!!
And any of you guys getting the impression that I'm speaking the truth having been double-crossed, well guess what? :)
And if Army of Brides or Global Ladies would care to contact me I'll identify the agency for you!
Why, just ask the ladies from Mariupol where AOB calls home and Olegs notorious reputation. Stealing pics of women from other sites, the list goes on. I've been to Mariupol many times, it's my wifes hometown and the women there speak nothing good of Army of Brides, so if the ladies thinks it's a sham what should the guys think?
Asking the ladies from Mariupol is not easy. I am in the US.
Stealing pics of women from other sites would would not be good to the sites, but that is beneficial to us since it keeps us going from site to site. I do not doubt you nasfan, but it would be good to know what they do in order to be a scam.
The reason I ask is that I have read the abundance of sites that state Army of Brides is a scam. These same websites state that A Foreign Affair has the highest integrity, etc... However, my experience with A Foreign Affair in the summer was horrible! Seriously! It was nothing less than horrible. To meet one of the girls, I had no choice but to call the only other website I knew of with the same girl's profile. It was none other than Army of Brides. The irony, they set me up on a date with the girl. No problem.
On another occasion, I checked to see if my letters were communicated to a girl I wrote. I was eventually able to contact her through a company that had no idea I had written the girl previously. She made a few comments that told me the information in my letters had definitely been communicated to her. As it turns out, the letters were read to her over the telephone.
My conclusion is that this company is probably a mixed bag. That is why I was wondering what the opinions were of people that had actually gone on a tour with this company. I have read all of the bad reviews on websites like Jim's List, etc... But I honestly feel these websites have been compromised in some way by AFA.
So, my question is still out there, "Has anyone used Army of Brides? Actually used them for a tour? If so, "What was your experience?"
OK, Wyatt. I didn't tell you my story because I told it before. Here it is. I visited Ukraine three times. After the first visit, the woman I was corresponding with in Globaladies for two months changed her mind or she was a scam or something like that. I switched to AOB.
I already bought my plane ticket, so I didn't have a lot of time. I only wrote to this lady two or three times when I visited her. She told me an apartment cost $100 USD a day in Zaporozhye, but I can stay with her in her apartment, while her mother, her dog and son can stay in the apartment. I paid for the apartment. It was only later on that I found out that apartments there cost no more than $40 USD a day. She was a doctor, or so she said. In order for her to start her own practice, she said she needed $500 USD for her license. Like a fool, I gave it to her. She also asked for money for my plane ticket from Zaporozhye to Kiev. When it was time to pay for that when we were going to the airport the next day, she no longer had it. All of this was done outside the agency, so I don't know if you can blame that on AOB.
I had to send money to the woman before my third visit, also through AOB. Her phone was not working. Why if I landed in Kiev and I could not get a hold of her? I sent her some more money later on for the train trip from Kerch to Kiev and for one day accomodations.
She told me after a week that I was there that the agency, Edem Club took 10% of the money I sent her. The second time, an agency rep actually went with her to the bank to ensure they got the "proper" percentage. Apparently, they feel they were entitled to the percentage because I arranged the money transfer through the translators through the website (Army of Brides).
Complaining to AOB did not work. They wanted proof. I doubt if anything was done. Edem Club also insisted on their apartment in the middle of Kiev for $120 USD per day. While asking my gf, again through the translator, to look for accomodations, the correspondence suddenly got heated. I doubt if she was involved in the exchange that happened. I had been looking on the internet and I was sure it could be done for less than $100 per day. In the end, my gf ended up with the agency's apartment for $100 per day. It was a little more expensive than what I wanted, but it was acceptable.
The agency can get away with this because when I talked to the agency representative on the phone while I was in Kiev, she described herself as my gf's best fried. That was not the case.
Was this done with AOB's blessings and probably a cut? Who knows? I told them about it and they denied it. I am blacklisted there now. This is probably the reason.
Here, just run this address POB 32015, Mariupol , Ukraine , 87515 see what comes up under.
Who runs a anti-scam site for profit. An unscrupulous Agency owner who uses it as a weapon against other agencys. Who steals profiles of women from other sites for correspondence. That's not a scam. Has women up on his site that are married and have been for a couple of years and they have bitched and complained to have their profiles taken down. It goes on and on. If the information from the ladies alone isn't good enough, well I don't know what would be better than from the women themselves.
All the agencys listed under one PO Box, tells me two things, on massive letter fraud, two the scam site which he has two is also a fraud. Just profit centers for unsuspecting victims.
I have no experience with AOB, since I nixed them early on last year when I started my search. I used Elenas Models with soon to culminate superior results (her interview is in Nov.).
I almost always read postings on AOB. I look for something solid about their scams. Thanks for the reply Nasfan, but I am still looking.
I am not denying that the married ladies are there, but if that's the case, then I would see a few postings of the ladies not being there when it was time for a visit. I have seen this with other sites, but not AOB. How do you know that these ladies have bitched? Did you see it on a forum? Did they tell your wife? Mariupol ladies are just a small percentage of the ladies on AOB.
It looks to me that the other things that you mentioned are the results of unregulated business practices, not an organized scam to foreigners. If an agency owner also owns an anti-scam for profit that he uses against other agencies, they are not scamming foreigners. If they steal profiles of women from other sites, they are not scamming foreigners. Why can't the other agencies steal from them in return? Why does several sites using the same PO Box constitured a fraud?
I know a girl who has a profile at AOB and she told me she never personlay replies to letters there, she says her interpreter does it all. I also know that her profile says she does not have children but i know she has children. I informed AOB of the point that the girl has children and they asked her and she informed them that she did. My point is she was saying that she did not have kids for at least 3 years to AOB. When AOB found out about this from the girl herself they chose to do nothing and her profile still says she has no children. I also provided this information to Natasha club and they suspended her profile, guess what after 3 days they let her back in and have not changed her profile. What does this say to me, it says that a certain woman at AOB has a false profile it says AOB know this and choose to do nothing about it. To sum it up if one girl is doing it then it is certain many more are also. Same goes for Natasha club also.
If anyone says its normal to lie about not having kids when you have i would say fair play and you deserve to get scammed.
I ran into one of those, figgis. Her profile says no children, but her letter did. I think if one starts correspondence, that will come out. I have not seen a scam where one visited somebody and he thought she had no kids and she did. I do think that letter writing either comes from the woman, the interpreter or both.
It is probably right that some of these women have kids but it does not bode well to start a correspondance whith lies about children and lies about who is actualy writing the letters. I knew this girl quite well and she told me that all her letters are answered by the interpreter. What does this say, maybe you might strike it lucky at AOB which is fair enough. It also says there is a significant chance that you are writing letters to an interpreter of a girl who may have kids and if she lies about that then she might be married or have a boyfriend. My attitude about scamming starts if the correspondance is a lie and the agency turn a blind eye to it then chances are it is a scam or could become a scam.
My lady from Mariupol was listed with one agency (can't remember the name) and suddenly popped up on several agencies in Mariupol. It was a big problem when we got serious as she couldn't get her name DOWN and off the various websites.
Further - though she is quite gorgeous - she never heard anything from the agency she was listed with. She inquired about that out of curiosity and was told that actually her information had been sold many times and she was in corespondence with several men (though she had no awareness of it). The translators were doing all corespondence for her, but not to worry - if some guy decided to actually visit Mariupol to see her - she would be informed and asked presumably if she wanted to meet his. And if not, also presumably, some other girl would be substitued in her place as she would suddenly be considered unavailable.
Pity the poor guys writing to her who had no idea she was noy only uninterested but completely unaware of the corespondence!
Keep in mind - I met her at a Romance Social. So I knew that she actually existed and was actually aware of my interest in her (and her interest in me).
This is one of the problems of letter writing. Some guy could have fallen madly in love with her picture and the words of the "translator" from the agency and even planned a trip to see her.
I found out further that it WAS sossible to buy her REAL address from that agency - I bought it myslef for $10 just to see if that part was at least legitimate.
So this guy writing to her and getting entriely contrived letters from the agency, could have also bought her REAL address and shown up at her door. And after planning the trip and many supposed letters back and forth - he could have taken the bold step to travel and meet her - and she would have had no idea who he was - or even that he had been writing to her.
I've heard of just such things occuring - with letter writing through agencies.
I got married to a Russian woman some years ago. After some time I have found my wife's
(stolen) photoes on army of brides with a fake name and fake datas... no more questions needed!
