I'm considering options for better correspondance with the ladyfolk. The lady I'm going to see uses the agency (of course). I was thinking of pre-paying internet cafe fees for her, to help get her away from the agency. On the other hand, I was wondering if it would be cheaper just to pay for broadband to be installed in her home. I have a decent condition iBook I never use which I can give her.
Alexander, Armin (and anyone else living there) - what kind of price does broadband go for over there? I assume it's a 12 month contract?
internet cafes that I had dealt with (3 in Kiev)are pay as you go for the time. internet installed in a place is pay for use for the most part, my gf in Russia was using a pay as you go system - and it added up and was not as reliable, I got her to have an unlimited broadband installed -- it aint cheap - runs about 75/month - but as long as there is not a tremendous amount of downloading and surfing/wasting time on the net, it should be pretty reasonable to pay for use at home
First meeting, could be an agency stooge, you need to establish that by trying to get her away from the agency, yet you're already talking about giving her a PC and paying for her internet for ever more!
The one main thing that might restrict them from multiple contacts with multiple men might be the inconvenience and/or cost ..... and you're already talking of providing for such!
I paid 180 Gr/month for the "fastest" internet connection, no contract. The modem was about $50 I think. It worked fairly well, but the big PITA was that I had to pay the bill in person at some office, which was of course located in a very inconvenient place.
don't do it. you'll never know if she's talking to you because she wants to or because she's getting money from you. when a woman likes a man she'll make sacrifices. and don't forget about all the sacrifices you are making. like traveling half way around the world for a blind date.
There are internet cafes that are only a few cents to use for 15 minutes and no need to buy a computer until you are certain of her. Better it be installed to keep in touch with family if she comes with you.... Well it should be anyway*******
I pay for my cable Internet 50 grivnas per month, that's $6.25 and the downloading speed is up to 2-4 megabits ;)
Muzzy, the Internet is very affordable for locals, the Internet cafe is affordable for locals too. Don't send any money to a girl! If she really cares she can write you an e-mail on her own... Give me details about the girl, I bet I can find her on one of the social sites in 2-3 minutes, that will prove that she's using the Internet no problem
Martin, Gecko, calm down. I always plan ahead - way ahead. As people I've been having PM converstations with already know, I have plenty of backups for my trip, as I'm well aware that she might not be genuine. She's my 1st choice, but even if it doesn't work out with her, I'm assuming that at some point, I'll be taking things a stage further with someone out there, so I'm simply assessing my options for this eventuality. Call me anal, but I like to cost and plan all eventualities - it's just my MO.
Besides, I might have already put a key logger on the laptop ;) (for the record, I haven't, but don't assume too much innocence on my part)
Which city does she live? In Nikolaev I pay 100 (about $12) grivnas a month for an unlimited high speed connection. But there are many providers here and their prices vary from 40 to 200 grivnas a month. The Internet cafe's price is 50c an hour. Some providers can be paid online so you shouldn't send money to her but pay directly for her Internet. Just tell me which city she lives and I'll find out about the Internet connection opportunities there.
I doubt you can pay in advance for one year, if its like moldova. I can't seem to even pay one month in advance. They think your crazy to pay more than a month in advance and probably their payment system won't allow for this. If you asked they would say oh no you can just pay per month. They don't think more than a day ahead there. And often you have to pay at an office. Although with the company I am with they have touch screen bill payment machines at on the street (where you can pay other bills like telephone and gas).
I agree with the others your getting a bit a head of yourself. If you offer to pay internet your going to have to send money each month. And the cost to send will almost as much as the internet bill each month. So probably you will say i'll send for the next 3 months and the following month she would have spent the money and need more money to pay the next bill.
I was thinking of sending a girl what was called mobile internet, Vodafone, Orange and all the others do the Dongle with up to 7mb download per month for about 15-20 ponds per month, my idea was i could have control of payment from here. It all fell apart when i found out that Ukraine does not fall under the Europe umbrella where all these Networks can operate under a British payment plan and download limits. Personaly if you are going to pay for your girls internet do your homework do it in a way where you can pay remotely and not through her, its not a trust issue but common sense. If you are onto a scammer she will say it costs 80 dollars a month and it costs 100 dollars to install or something similar.
about cost of internet in Rostov region, it is about $37 US/mo 1100 rubles for unlimited hi speed broadband use -- rubles don't change but cost of dollar is getting cheaper, six months ago it was around 30US
