Part one!! :-) Guess it was too long for one post....
Hello all. This is my first post on this very informative forum.
Thought i would share my experiences and ask you for opinions about things that happened. I have been to Zaporozhye and Kharkov two times.
Iīll try to make it short. :-)
I registered on EM and let my interest be known to about 15 hot babes. Half of them politely said no,and the rest said yes. A few didnīt reply after
i asked for their e-mail adress, and one stopped writing after the second letter. I ended up visiting the first girl in July in Zaporozhye.
When i arrived she had arranged for a "private taxi driver" for the three days i was going to stay. Holy crap!!! What a scaaaaam!! He charged three
times more than a normal taxi would cost and the chick was only interested in driving here and there. To restaurants as far away as possible of course.
Payed 3600 UAH just for the taxi trips for three days. Hereīs the best part: One week after i got home her profile on EM said: " Iīm already married,
good luck in your search" DOH!!! Guess i payed for her wedding, yes!?? hehe. The "taxi driver" was probably her boyfriend/husband. Well well....
Stupid as i was , two weeks later i went back to Zapo to meet another girl. Would you believe she also had a "private taxi driver" Surprise surprise!!
But this time i new what was coming so i used the "taxi driver" as little as possible. But the topless-bar at Intourist Hotel was great!!!
At least i had some fun there. :-) Classy girls and cheap prices. Both times in zapo i spent 1000 USD on food, drinks and taxi in only three days!
The cost of the plane tickets not included. They were about 1000 USD all together. So on two useless trips to Zapo i blew 4000 USD!! DOH!!!!
Norwaydude, if you really have no idea what to do with your money I know some childcare funds. $3600 for 3 days TAXI is a kind of madness. Well lets do some accounts - accommodation - you could find "Royal" apartments for $100 a day (300),taxi $100 a day + petrol and the driver would be your interpreter, guard and guide (400), eating out - you could eat the best food in Ukraine in good restaurants for $150 a day (if not ordering roasted Indian elephants and old French wine) (450). Well, that's all I think, and that's $1300 (still very expensive people can live for some months for this sum).
Let's take Nikolaev (very popular for wife-tourists). Apartments (the best) $60 a day, $2-3 for a taxi drive (how many drives do you need a day?), eating out - $100 a day for you and your party. Clubs and strip clubs - well $100 a night is much more than enough.
Well, next time feel free to ask me about planning your trips to Ukraine:)
Rb, 3600 uah is still very high. I paid 400 uah to go from Yalta to Simferopol in the early morning to catch a flight before the buses started operation. The bus would have been 35 uah. A rented automobile is about 1600 UAH for a week. The point is, buses and taxis are much cheaper than renting a car and 3600 uah is usurious for the amount of travel he described. Norwaydude has gotten the point and accepts how he learned the hard way. Norwaydude, next trip, tell the woman before you go, it's not your first trip and you can make your own arrangements. If she doesn't show, you know where the hotel is. It worked out for me. The agent dropped me like a hot rock and lady was real and there with me. I have trouble spending money with her. I try to tip and pay higher for things like a hair cut. My ladies fear is that if I tip high and pay a higher amount, when I am gone she will be expected to pay more for herself.
EVERYONE,,,, IF YOU ARE PAYING A PREMIUM PRICE FOR ANY SERVICE,,,, YOUR WOMAN IS ON THE TAKE!!!!!
400 UAH is also too much, Rodan. I went from Simferopol to Yalta for 250 UAH. The girl I was with negotiated the taxi price and then called me. The driver did not know the there would be a tourist for a passenger. Two of us rode for that much.
you'd been had dude. the cool thing is you shared this so others will hopefully learn from your mistakes. Rodan is right. you can serve yourself better by taking an 'exploratory' trip and feeling the place out. sure have a few dates lined up. but take it easy on the 'offers' for a driver, rooms, interpreter etc. ... if you have any travel sense or experience, after a week or so you should be able to figure the place out for yourself. it is still a ruthless place. the key is to understand that before you go.
