I stay up late the other night and I call my girl @ 8am her time. She answers as always but she happens to be at her mothers house. She has not been feeling well for a few days she has had a cold so she went to her mothers to stay. She looks radiant and beautiful straight out of bed WOW!!!!!!!! anyway we are talking and laughing I tell her I have been missing her and hope she gets well soon. Only 8 weeks to go before I visit. She introduces me to her mother as her fiance. I return the greeting O-chen pre-Yat na and her mother smiles and speaks in Russian to her. They both laugh, I was a bit uneasy about that part but O.K. it might be an inside joke, you know mother daughter thing, I gathered they were fairly close. We Skyped for about an hour and a half and she says she needs to get ready for work. Well as her mother sits beside her she looks right into my eyes and says Ya-Lublu-Tebya I had just learned this phrase a few days ago and it took me by such surprise and of course I say I love you too my angel. Her mother says something in Russian again and they laugh. Man I have been on cloud nine ever since! I have to believe that she is most sincere. I do not think that she would let her mother in on our relationship if she was not.
I am torn between congratulations and suspicious. I don't know or have not followed your relationship, whether or not you met her. If you have, what has changed between now and then? In other words, what have you done to deserve this? I was once "yelled" at or had a good talking to by a woman whom I wrote this to. She told me how a strong word this is and not to used lightly.
I will take yours and Muzzy's point's word for it that Philippines is very dangerous. I am originaly from there, I have heard it is dangerous, but not that dangerous. There are murders in Manila everyday, but that is a very large city. That's like saying there is a murder in Los Angeles everyday. There were murders of 20 members of the press, but that's in the deep south. That's where most of the Muslims hang out. Out of over 7,000 islands, this is one island. Their economy has been fairly stable in spite of the recession. Their commerce now includes the middle east as well as the West.
Highballit, if you haven't actually meet her then it means nothing, well not nothing but its just words at this stage so just treat it as playfull banter.
Ragingbull, what the hell has Philippines got to do with this?
What I find funny is the........ " I will take yours and Muzzy's point's word for it"
Its either this....or that.....or maybe.....or maybe something else........
Are we still on earth or maybe the twilight zone??.........
Well, my girlfriend told her mother about 'us' and her mother told her she was out of her mind (in less kinder words) -- no love for the American or for her daughter at that point. However, after nine months she is warming up to the idea. Still not sending out notices to friends and exclaiming how proud she is of her daughter to land an American. Quite to the contrary. But she is relaxing and wants to cook me a good meal.
highballit -- It is time to downshift. There is a steep grade ahead. I wouldn't want to be cruising downhill, miss a turn and roll over a cliff and end up in a firey death. Not being negative, just being reasonable. Put it in granny gear and arrive safely. Then later, after a few more miles with this woman you can put it in cruise control. And if she turns out to be a good co-pilot you can step on the gas. Just don't think you can quickly burn up one tank of fuel (petrol) and race to the finish line with your prize. That's all I'm saying. As in, know what I mean?
