In fact I knew next to nothing before I went. I had met a girl on HappyGrooms and was there to visit her, but as much as anything I needed a little time off the grid, a change in perspective if you will. After reading some of the posts here I thought the group might be interested in my story. The first thing to point out is my local "fixer" - Alyona. My email friend Aliona had made contact with Alyona to facilitate the trip and translate. I dealt with her extensively prior to the trip. She gave advice, rented the apartment, arranged for car service and otherwise guided me for the week. While her service is not for free, she is very easy to communicate with and is sincere and honest. The fact that she is very attractive doesn't hurt! I even sent wire's for pre-payments without issue. Sounds risky, I know...but it worked out in the end. Anyway I traveled via Warsaw and Odessa to Nikolaev. I stayed in an apartment on Dubristov Street near the city center. The place was clean and well appointed. I met the girls within hours of my arrival despite the long trip. What the hell - you can sleep when your dead. Both girls were 27, beautiful and sweet. By way of reference, I'm 45 years old and terminally single. I've had plenty of girlfriends here in the US. I can smell a gold digger when I met them. The three of us spent the evenings together all week. It was a great time. I was not looking to get laid and didn't press it. I've had plenty of other vacations chasing tail, to be honest I enjoyed the company and the cost was not prohibitive. I did pay all tabs and intepreter charges...probably worked out to $200 per night. Cheap by Dallas standards. One place I would recommend is the pool hall down by the river. Great activity to show the girls how to play US pool. Don't worry about the locals, they didn't seem to mind.....other than a little stink eye! I've been in touch with both girls since I left. I hope to arrange a trip in the spring to meet Aliona in Europe after she learns more english. I don't have major expectations yet expect for a good time with a beautiful girl. If it costs be a few bucks, who cares. Anybody interested in more details - drop me a line. I'd be happy to refer Alyona as well. I would recommend her completely for trying to get anything done in Nikolaev.
