She is A private Translator. The lady (Alena) I want to get to know, want's to send a vidio of herself. And said it cost somewhere around $100.00 for a month's of translation and the vidio.I'm not sure if this is a scam or is this reasonable?
Thanks for the info !!!!! I 'm sure this is going to work Out Great. the lady Zoya is willing to deliver anything I ask for only ten dollars and that includes a picture, that's a cheap price? and by the way Alena deleted her add's so I'm sure She a Sweetheart. So is anyone been to the Ukraine from the USA? how is the best way to make travel plans?
Uk based Randy but been to Ukraine several times now,and travelled quite extensively through the country,so any advice I can help with let me know.
As a good place to begin though has got to be the web. Also you will find a mountain of info from your own consulate in Ukraine too.
Thank's Gladiator!! So can you tell me is the Ukraine a pretty safe place to visit? You know how some people think of us From the US and UK . Is there any really strain Laws that could mess with me? I have to make sure. Because I do have two son's to think about too and My brother think's I crazy !! lol
As safe as most places are Randy, use common sense when travelling,IE not much loose cash,(travellers cheques etc)you can change them easily in Kiev or any of the other big cities, like Dnipropetrovsk,Kharkov etc etc....
Impossible to obtain any Ukrainian currency from home though so you will have change cash when you arrive.Just make sure you do it at a registered kiosk. You will find Dollars are very easy to change,as are Euros too.
There used to be compulsory medical insurance payable on arrival, but this is no longer the case for UK citizens, not sure about US citizens though, but your Consulate will have information on that one.
Be careful travelling on the Metro in any of the big cities too,as there are plenty of very good pickpockets about, keep your wallet in an inside pocket.
Finally remember NOT to take any Ukranian currency out of the country when you leave,as it is Illegal!!!
You are certainly NOT crazy wanting to go there,it really is a nice place and there are lots of very friendly people who will make your stay a pleasant one.Have a good journey my friend and a safe one too.
You may want to read the post from awhile ago, I think it was lik e"ukraine, soddom and gemorhha" or something like that. It was posted by a guy who had a really bad experience there. May give you some ideas as to what to avoid.
Thanks Chipscher. Well I read the story, Boy did he get scammed, But wouldn't you want to talk to a lady on the phone a few times before you fly of the some country you have know cule about ? Well I wanted to tell you guys. Alena and I have talked on the phone and I am calling her tomorrow. and before I head to the Ukiraine to meet her we will talk a lot more. I'v met my fair share of scammer. So does any one here know How you can do a back gound check on these lady's ? Have to be careful even if your heart say's go for it !!!
I know that if you met her through this site, they check out the girls first before posting them. Maybe there is an equivilant of a private investigator there or something? Don't go psycho, there is a difference between wanting some information, and invading privacy! Be respectful. I understand your concerns, but have a little trust in your lady.
Randy....if you really want to check our lady out, there are people who will do that for you.Just type "background check+Russian women" into almost any search engine and go from there. But as Chip says do show respect, imagine how you would feel being on the receiving end of a check!!
As for the Sodom and Gomorrah story....yes I do feel sorry for that guy too,but a little more homework done before he travelled would have saved a lot of upset, and that is certainly NOT typical of Ukraine.....even Vinnitsa!
I will alway Show Alena Respect and you guy's are right, Forget the backgound check!!!!! Well I did send her a dozen whote roses and a card yesterday And I did get 8 pictures of her and the roses, the lady that did it for me charged $50.00 $40.00 for the roses and card and $10.00 to deliver, I think thats Fair? But I'm not sure of prices over there. this site is like $120.00 OK has anyone been to Kherson Ukraine? She said it a 250k drive $100.00 total cab ride for her to come to odesssa and back. Is that a fair price? Well she want's me to come Visit her soon, She also want's to rent a flat for us to stay in because she lives with her Family and she want's to be able to spend time way from then so we can get to know each other. So what's a good price for a flat ? Thanks for all the good info !!!
that sounds like a fair price. I have seen companies that rent out flats for $100.00 a month, with laundry service, microwave, tv, vcr, etc. Check out her backside, not backround! ha!
Randy...I assume you are flying into Odessa?? If that is so then forget the taxi ride to Kherson, even though by western standards $100 for a 250km ride is quite good.Much better bet is to use the train. For a private compartment with steward service will cost you about $40.Or for ease of transfer you will find a very good Coach service running from Odessa to Kherson run by a company called Autolux. They have booking agents in all the main airports and their prices are even less, and you can board directly from the airport too.
Bit more difficult to give you accurate prices for an apartment in Kherson but as it is not one of the larger cities I would suggest that you should be able to find a good quality apartment for between $30-$50 a day, plus you have the added bonus of being able to spend a lot more time with your lady too.
If it helps you might want to check this website for info too.....

Hope that helps a little.
Thank'S all for the info. The way I am looking at this it could be fun and interesting!! Even if thing's don't work out between my lady and I. I am hoping all work's out well and then maybe She get the chase to come to the US, One thing good I do have a friend who work for imagations. So what's the best place to conected to the Ukraine? UK? From the Northwest US
Depends on where you are. I would assume the large cities have flights to kiev (probably Los Angeles would be your best bet from the US), but I did some checking on my own, and from Miami, just about every flight goes into Moscow first, then transfer to a plane to Kiev. I have seen direct flghts from Boston to Moscow however. Go to Yahoo Travel and check prices, and connections and such. There are many! I like Yahoo travel best because it gives you the option to just find the lowest fare, if your travel dates are flexible (you can find the lowest fare, book it a few months in advance, then tdo the visa for the dates of your flight). I saw a flight on Air France from Miami to Kiev for less that $400.00 (connecting in Paris).
Hi, Make sure you have more than an hour for connection times...allows for delays, and makes it less likely for you to lose your luggage. I like non-stops the best.
My first trip to Russia, Lufthansa ended up leaving my luggage behind in Frankfurt, and it did not catch up before I had to leave Moscow for Stavropol. Ended up getting everything back on my return to Moscow 10 days later, I was lucky. It was kind of neat shopping for clothes in the market with my girl.
Maybe connections arent such a bad thing, if you have a long one, you can enjoy your trip more by spending some time in a city other than your destination. Like have dinner in Paris, Tea in London, etc.
Long connection times aren't such a great thing for most of us. Airports are boring everywhere. Most of us want to spend the maximum amount of time at our destination. What I meant was sufficient time to make sure your luggage is with you, and time enough to catch your next flight...especially in Moscow where you will most likely have to change airports.
