Im a young Aussie lad living and teaching in Nikolaev Ukraine. Im 24 and have been here for 18 months. I was never on the bride hunt, but after coming here its not hard to have to rewire your jaw about a thousand times a day after it keeps hitting the ground. The women hear are beyond bullshit. My girlfriend is a drop dead gorgeous student from Odessa who studies at the local uni, but its not even the looks, its how feminine and sweet she is. Something else you also notice in Nikolaev is the foreigners checkin out the girls, ;). so if any of you guys got any questions about my adopted city or myself, dont hesitate to ask. But it may be just sandbox "my opinion is better than your" game. A little info - I live in a smallish (aprox 2,800 resident population) town on the Texas Gulf Coast. Our human bodies in city #s explode during the summer, spring break etc.... But it is not a town you can live in on minimum wage. So a few shops & restaurants have been hirng in Ukraine & Romanian college students for the summer. Mostly all girls/women (of course) & I have gotten to know several of them on an acquaintance level. Every single one of them were beautiful, worked their butts off (that's why they are sought after as employees) well mannered, & despite being absolute sweethearts they are too principled & distinquished to spend their time chasing all the local surf boys. They just won me over. So when I ran across this whole FSU Dating deal I thought I had found heaven. % months later & 1 "bs" deal after another, the constant correspondence that is 90$ bogus...I've just about had it. Sooo the million $ questions! You can't answer to whether "ALL the girls are scammers" mantra. But generally what do you find to be the opinion of US or Western men. Do they have a jaded view of American men. I am 51 but blessed enough that I do not appear anywhere near it & stay in very good shape. That's not vanity, just luck but point is I do well with Ukraine women from around 35 to my preference of mid to late forties. Again the point is that is an age range above your peer group & most of the people you will deal with. But by getting around wwhat impressions do you get. I have studied some of Ukraine politics & economy. Those 2 suck. But I also have surveyed much of the land w/ Google Earth. The resolution for Ukraine is extremely high & in Nikolaev I can make out the colors of the cars. The country is beautiful & Nikolaev itself seems to be a fantastic place to live. Is there really enough economic hardship & lack of real opportunity for say a mid 30s woman with a child to consider wanting to leave their country???? By now you have seen some of these dating sites with thousands of profiles. I get hundreds of letters from girls 18-25 that are the most gorgeous creatures I have ever seen and all the young girls have photos in bikinis or much less! Those I disregard immediately. General rule + if a 20 something girl wouldn't be interested here, 1 from Ukraine won't be either. Even at that you could count in the thousands the #s of women in my age range with children (which is good w/ me) But would they really have a desire to leave the Ukraine. Thats for replying mate! yeah i though people hear musnt of liked for me some reason. I live in the hot chick capital of the world, but no questions, whats goin on? As for all women are scammers, its absolute Bullshit. I live here and have been dating and seeing some of the most beautiful women ive ever met. I have no doubt some women are scammers and are just after peoples money. My point being when a girl you see on the internet is a drop dead gorgoeus blonde who has every guy in town and on the internet chasing her, she probably has the guy she is interested in and not much care for the rest. As for foreign guys, the girls here generally like 3 types; American, Australian and Italian (Ukraine girls love fashion). The views of Americans are very different, they are in a positive light as opposed to say Europe or the middle east. As for being 51, I have no doubt you would be popular with the 27-51 age group. Once again 18-22, i mean seriously, are you interested in shopping with her girlfriends, talking about pop singers and rap musicans, going to nigthclubs dancing to techno and horrible music all night long, letting her dress you up? There are heaps of girls this age looking for a good man, but there are also heaps this age who want a foreign man to do as they do and have the same interests. As for the economic situation in Ukraine, its not as bad as you think, the real problem here is lack of services, lack of improvement of crumbling infrustructure and a real shortage of lack of opportunity. As you said, the girls hear are sweet as kittens, very hard working and have pride in who they are here as opposed to the self worship in some western countries. The real problem is these girls get a masters degree at university, work there buts off but get nothing in return, by the time they finish university, they are 23, still living in a tiny flat with 5 family members and water and electicity that cuts out whenever it feels like, and they start to look abroad for their futures. This is why they look for husbands because family is extremely here especially for a young women. Why would they stay here when they can earn shitloads and make a real life for themselves overseas, what is their other option, get a five year masters degree at university studying astro physics to only be offered a job as a waitress? Like I said, Ukraine isnt a bad place to live, but there is no opportunity for a young woman. As for a desire to leave Ukraine? they aint looking for husbands for no reason mate! As for Nikolaev, its a great place to live, like you said mate, hog heaven ;) If you have any others questions bgpa, dont hesitate to ask. Is that correct? And I have also heard that cars tend to be a luxury there. How is the public transportation system? Im getting married to my girl Elena from Lugansk in 2012 and everything I dream of.. I got into this Russian bride thing about 12 years ago. This was before the internet and email and such. I remember seeing a small ad in some magazine for European Connections. I received their catalog and I couldn't believe my eyes! I thought, is it possible that these women are this beautiful? What I ended up doing was placing my bio in the mens catalog that circulated thru Russia, Kazakhstan, etc. I receive many letters from nice women. I met my future wife by this method. We sent lots of faxes back and forth. Snail mail takes weeks to get there. We decided to meet. I'm from Seattle and she's from Kazakhstan. We decided to meet up in Moscow. Anyway, to the point. When I got to Moscow I could not believe my eyes!!! I have never seen so many beautiful women in my life! We used the Metro all the time and going down the escalator I could see at least 10 women coming up the other side that I would be very happy to marry. If a man has never been to the FSU they would do themselves a favor to go at least once in their life. Besides the beautiful women there are great museums and such there. I ended up gong to Russia 7 or 8 times. We were married for 5 years but divorced. I never was serious about marriage, just wanted some adventure and she was kinda looking for a Green Card. Ir worked out for the both of us and we remain friends till this day. I constantly check the Russian dating sites but I think they are almost 100% scammers unlike when I started my search. They have found out that men are easy suckers and will part with large amounts of money. I would really like to spend a summer in Moscow or some other city. It could be an adventure of a lifetime. I came through the Turkish international airport in Instanbul, there were flights going to Odessa, Sevastopol, Donetsk, Dnipropetrosk, Kharkov etc... Not sure about direct from the US, but you can fly into Odessa from Prague... Cars are a luxury here, thats why there is no fat women! But that said public transport would have to be the best ive seen anywhere. Ive been seeing this girl from nikolaev, she a student , but to pass her exams she needed to " pay " professonals to do her work for her. there is also corruption that she claims is present. if you fail an exam you can pass if you pay the teacher. is this true ? or was she just making money out of me ? She was told by someone in "higher" position at the university, that she had to give some of her students good grades, even if they failed, and was lousy students. These particilar studends parents, in some way had connections to the university management. She didnt like it, and she was feeling very bad about that incident, and she could do nothing if she wanted to keep her job. So yes, there is corruption, but to say "you can pass if you pay the teacher" Is not what every teacher do, but i am pretty sure that some do. " she also had some issues with " girl problems and medical problems"... it reminds me a girl i met online in russia who " had also female medical problems and had to see the doctor everyday !!, and then her close friend died 2 days before i was arriving into russia. so i told her where to go... and had some fun on my own in moscow. you can detect bullshit ... and with this girl there is a level of bs that i detect.. but she is dam beautiful !! i dont think its for real though. the other thing that i noticed i wanted to go to a club in nikolaev... but her and her friend decided not to go to the club... instead wanted to to go to odessa clubs.. She was avoiding something in nikolaev ? her friend told me that in nikolaev she is very popular and guys are all over her and didnt want me to get jealous... If you are staying in the city or even commuting between cities I would recommend just using the transit systems. Driving on the open road is pretty much the same anywhere in the world, but driving in the city has it's own unwritten law and mentality and something that is acquired with experience. What comes to mind is "I'm walking here" from the Midnight Cowboy as Dustin Hoffman pounds on the hood of a car that nearly ran him down in the crosswalk.
