Sifted through looking for women over 30 with children so help get through the ones that are playing games and scamming. I'm a young 48 yr old guy looking at the search for my diamond in the rough with eyes wide open. Finally found woman in Odessa(I know bad city after reading recent post)that seemed to be real. We've shared a quite a few phone calls (at her expense w/ translator)and she text me everyday. I've planned to go to Odessa a couple of times but businesses have kept me from going twice but actually cleared schedule for travel first part of March (prior to the flu breakout). Her daughter who is great (i've talked to her 9 yrs old)birthday is coming up and I got the text today that I didn't want to see. It was like the Don Henley song " I got the call today that I didn't want to hear but I knew it would come!". She sent me text asking for money to buy kid birthday gift. I haven't met her yet and she's asking for money. First reaction is tell her thanks for playing and tell her what she's won. Guess I gotta to look in some smaller city as suggested. NEXT! The advice/feeling here on this forum time and again, is that a genuine woman, and a genuine woman that is genuinely interested in you will NOT, maybe even NEVER ask you for money, no matter what her financial situation, no matter what “special occasion” is looming, no matter how much the cost of medicine for her “sick grand mother” They are proud women and, I think anyway, aware to some degree or another of the negative signals asking a foreign man for money sends, and particularly one they've not yet met. Walk away my Western brother, please ! Odessa ? Kiev ? I'm sure it's possible to find your soul mate in these bustling, relatively affluent cities, I'm sure some guys from this very forum have done just that but, I do believe it's more difficult, takes longer, and therefore costs more. I'm in Rivne (Rovno) West Ukraine, a 4.5hr bus ride from Kiev, 3hrs from L'viv, look me up if you're still coming in March, I'm sure my girl has a couple of single friends who'd be happy to meet with you ! It's not enough for a scammer to be content, but enough to for a present for a child or a bag of chocolates. If she is sincere she will be happy. If not she's a real peace of work for bringing her child into this. Either way you have more than a twenty invested already. She might be doing a reality check on you if you have canceled twice already. She is bad "business" and you know it! Can I give you an advice? Well I'll do it anyway! I thought I could find my dream girl myself too, and spent 3 years meeting more than 10 girls in Ukraine and Moldova. By meeting I mean in real life, by traveling to meet them! I wrote maybe 100 girls, but in November I came in contact with a girl in Moldova! She was also attached an agency in the city and asked me to contact this agency starsvet (which you can easy find by google it), for accommodation during my 4 day stay. In first I was very skeptical to letting an agency from Moldova handle this for me because I was sure they only wanted to sell me services and to a much higher price then I could find by myself. But I’m sorry I ever doubted them! When I finally meet the girl she was not what I expected and now I had to spent 3 more days in a city I didn’t know! NO the agency starsvet stepped in and helped me meet several other girls from their agency without any charge at all. I rented an apartment from them to a price cheaper than it was possible for me to find by myself in the internet, and they picked me up in the airport in a car charged only normal taxi rates. Actually they also introduced me to a lady that showed to be more than I ever hoped for. I returned to Chisinau several timed after and today we are in a serious relationship. Every time I return to Moldova I visit Svetlana, Inga, Alex and all the other wonderful people in agency starsvet and it feel a little like returning home. So If you want to meet a serious girl forget about “your girl” in Odessa and book a trip to Chisinau and let starsvet arrange all for you. You don’t even have to know any of the girls from the agency before you go there, because they will introduce you to 1 or 2 new girls every day during your stay. It is nothing compared to the costs you will incur in this process. We also must learn if we are suited to each other. What "gordonp gecko" has learned and accepted is there is a child and that he has made plans that have been changed. The lady likely has a difficult time regardless of her sincerity. When you accept the reality of courting a woman with a child, the whole process is skewed. Romance is sometimes eclipsed by reality and the hopes in the eyes of a child. She sees those eyes everyday and that will will not change. I didn't ask her for amount that I would expect that to be couple hung if I'm not mistaken. I was surprised because I didn't get the I've got a friend that's translator or I'll take care of your hotel move that that amateur scammers pull. Seems to be 50/50 right now from you guys. I didn't even respond to the message. I just asked point blank so I could make sure I wasn't making a wrong assuption and asked "so you want me to send you money?" She replied yes "to buy children's computer!". Got a suggestions for small city or towns to go looking for new lady? Nikolev sounds like there are a lot of scammers there as a matter of fact I've talked to a few. Let me know what you guys think. She could hint at her daughter's birthday or ask for a present that is not money but something you can send in a parcel. Has she ever told you about her life level? Is she poor? Does she have a job, relatives, ex-husband paying for her daughter's maintenance? My opinion is that she kept waiting for your arrival for too long having no bonuses from corresponding with you. And now she's decided it's the time to start. Check her background before sending anything or coming to visit her that will be more expensive. The rest had to go to an internet cafe or agency to correspond. I've never come across anyone who would have a separate computer for their child. If she was asking for help with some desperate situation, then fair enough (although as many have pointed out, pride would stop many there from asking for spare oxygen if they were suffocating), but this is a luxury, and I simply can't imagine any genuine woman ever asking for money for this kind of thing. If you really really want to spend a few hundred, spend it on a private investigator and have her checked out.
