(The search function turned up 157 pages of random posts.) First of all, can you recommend a good apartment rental agency, that you have personally used, and that didn't do a "bait and switch" on you? Second, what is a good location for an apartment? Is there a central street, like Kreshatyk or Deribasovskaya, where there are restaurants, clubs, and bigger shops? I see lots of apartments advertised as being "in the center", but Kharkov is a pretty big city, and I would like to find a place that is really central. I don't really want to take the metro just to get to a decent restaurant. Thanks for all help. Its been a few weeks and I just decided to see whats new on the forum and I find a Kharkov post. :) I have been using kharkovrent.com for 5 years. I've been happy with all their apartments and their center locations are great. As Armin pointed out Sumskaya is the the main street and all the apartments are either on the street or just a block or two off of it. Allbeautiful.net is affiliated with the apartment rental company. They are the only agency I use in Kharkov for dating. I usually meet my girls on my own or with the help of an interpreter. Kharkov is my favorite city in Ukraine. I have been to many cities of Ukraine and Kharkov beats them all when it comes to the number of beautiful women. My favorite cafes are Abajour and Fidele, favorite restaurants are Ya Ska for sushi, Kenashi Terem in Shevchenko park area (Go upstairs), Mario's near the Kharkov hotel, and in the warm weather months you cant beat Pushka ( Go to the courtyard seating). All are moderate prices but you could spend some money in Ya Ska and Pushka. I like to save Pushka for the girl I really like. :) The best nightclub in Ukraine and yes I mean all of Ukraine is called Bolero. Go there! Its a great place to take a girl but even better to go single. :) Some nights its 4 to 1 girls over guys and every night its 2 to 1. The other cool thing about Bolero is that you can go any night of the week and it still busy and fun. Fridays and Saturdays are packed but all the other nights are just busy. Some of my best nights there were Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Well, good luck and have a great trip. I will not give details of my business because of moderator rules, but I I will hopefully be offer some inpartial advice to you. Monthly rental of a 'business' class apt is $700-1000. If you want a Luxury Apt then this can be $1200-2000. Best locations are; Pushkinska St. Sumskaja St. Lenina Ave or close to Freedom Square. If you are coming through a Dating Agency then be careful, many charge well over the standard price and tend to use the lower end or budget apartments. I see many guys arrive and want to up grade to something better. The outside of the building and the entrance hall an look terrible , but once inside the apartment can be very nice. Also be aware that most city centre apartments are in old period buildings , so do not have a lift, ask what floor it is on as cheap ones can mean a long climb up lots of stairs ! Kharkov is a beautiful city all year. There are lots of gorgous genuine ladies really looking for their ideal man. But becareful of the Dating Agencies, I hear of many guys geting scammed by them. Try perhaps a direct contact site, such as Club 10. That way you are speaking to the girl directly, emails, skype etc. I really love living and working here and am very happy with my Ukrainian wife. The people are great, but I cannot understand why the younger men are letting all these beautiful ladies go to older ukrainian men or disappear abroard. Their loss is our gain ! Dansing - $2000 per month is for top end of the market, modern large luxury apartment in city centre. How does that compare with similar in your main city, or do you only have experience in cost of a 'park bench' Maybe a cheap girl will fall for your night of a lifetime offer of a Park Bench, but most ladies here want something a little more up market !! My lady was very good at finding apartments at major reduction in price from what is advertised on the internet. She found a "Bed and Breakfast" next to the train station for 300 hyrvnas/day. Very nice room with private shower and rest room. The room had modern furnishings and LCD television. On my trip in January I had a contact that found us an apartment in Kiev that was $50/ night with all new furniture, modern and very comfortable, only a few feet to the Metro and supermarket with internet access by structured wiring. If you are meeting a particular woman that is frugal, she can likely find good accomodations. We actually had good luck in dealing with the women holding signs with rooms to rent at the train station on other trips . The western websites are higher priced for reasons you can guess. I personally was happy in the outer regions as long as they were close to the Metro. Which brings up an event I had in Kiev. If you are seen as a foreigner be cautious and aware. Do not stand out and keep you voice quiet. I was surrounded by 4 men and an attempt was made to pick my pockets. I shoved one man out the door with an elbow to his throat and another tried to get into my pocket. Keep hold of your wallet and passport. From that point on my lady was very cautious about talking as we approached and in how and where we stood. We have apartments in our business from $40-$100 per day. We have all different types of people that come to Kharkov. Its not just full of Western guys looking for their ideal lady, or just an old saddo' wanting a cheap shag ! The original question was; 'Can anybody give me some advice regarding apartments in Kharkov?' All you saw was '$2000' and nothing else ! The guys that come here looking for a girl normally pay the Agencies $60+ for an apartment that we own and rent for $40+ directly,for a nights stay. $2000 per month is for a large luxury apartment that sleeps up to 6 people. We met in Kiev very late one evening and I wanted to stay at Hotel Borispol, then start out early and find a good apartment. She had us go to the train station and we went to an apartment that was a dump by anyones standards. It was dirty and when I sat on the bed the mattress crashed to the floor. We stayed there only because it was late and called the woman to fix the bed immediately, which she did. Whoever broke the bed left a $100 Leatherman tool under the bed trying to make it look as though they did not damage the bed. I still came out ahead for a nights stay. In the morning we were gone to better digs.
