And so the perfect Business plan has, it seems, been formulated. A Business to have the top 10 Multi-nationals running home to their mama's in shame, for not thinking of it themselves.
A company has in stock an item than many people want, some even need perhaps. The company is the only supplier of this item. [so far so good for this company]
The company does not sell the item outright to it's constant flow of eager customers [although it does require a sum of money be sure] but asks that interested parties “apply” for the item and upon receipt of an application the company will “consider” the application “carefully” before making a “decision” whether to “grant” the item to the applying customer [now looking VERY good for this company]
The company requires that all applications for the item are accompanied by “supporting documents” but does not stipulate what documents a customer should supply with their application. The company, as stated on their website, prefers customers to “supply whatever supporting documents they think the company will require” The company also requires a “fee” not to supply the item to the customer, but simply for the privilege of “considering” the customers application. The company states, in no uncertain terms to all it's customers that the item may not be supplied, regardless of any fee paid to the company. The current fee required by the company equates to 78.81 GPB [this is one hell of a company, isn't it?]
The company also requires that a customer attend a branch of it's headquarters in person to submit the application for the item. The company will issue the customer with an “appointment time” but “cannot guarantee” to see the customer at the appointed time due to the high number of other customers also applying for the item, of which the company has an endless supply.
On attending the companies branch the customer will not be permitted to bring anyone inside with them, be they relative or friend for support. The companies staff will not answer any questions concerning the customers application for the item, nor will they read thoroughly the customers application and supporting documents, they are instructed by the company to simply read through an internal check-list [visible only to them] and make a mental note of what the customer has supplied as regards their application for the item. The customer is then told they “will be notified in due course” about the “decision” of their application for the item, a time-scale of between 2 days and 5 weeks, at the companies discretion, of course.
When the company is ready to announce it's “decision” to the customer as to whether the customer has been successful in obtaining the companies item, it first sends both an email and sms to the customer requesting that they again attend the branch of it's headquarters to collect the documents the customer previously supplied, it is only then that the customer will learn if they have been “approved” to obtain the item or not, their approval or denial will be in the form of a sealed brown envelope, it's a matter of “privacy” so say the thoughtful company.
Throughout this whole process, the customer will, in many cases, have travelled overnight twice to reach the companies branch of it's headquarters, at considerable cost, and sometimes in extreme cold. The customer will have spent a lot of time preparing for the company the stipulated “supporting documents” the company requires, causing the customer unnecessary stress and worry as to whether they have supplied the correct documents or not. And the customer will also be out of pocket by almost 80 GPB which was paid to the company when the customer applied to the company for it's item.
The company then often “declines” to supply to the customer the item, citing “not satisfied with the customers intentions” for the item, or “insufficient supporting documents” But the company does encourage all it's “declined” customers to apply again for it's items after 3 months, reminding them to once again bring along another 78 GBP [prices are subject to increase without further notice] and any further “supporting documents” the customer “thinks the company will require” in order to consider a new application by the customer for the companies item.
On paper such a company would be impossible to exist, in reality it DOES......
So, what's the companies name ? And what item does it stock ?
The company, is none other that The British Government.
It's branch that runs this rip off is the British Embassy in Kiev Ukraine.
And the product is a simple Tourist Visa for the UK for a Ukrainian Citizen.
Disappointed ? Yes, my girl and me, it's normal isn't it ?
Are we appealing the decision ? We can't, appeals are only permitted for some Visa's.
Are we going to reapply in 3mths ? Doubt it, stuff Blighty.
Do I wish I'd dressed my girl in a Muslim costume before she went into a British Embassy building asking to go to the UK ? Well, even though she'd of been guaranteed entry [without even a passport I'm sure] the answer's no.
