Hello all. I'm looking for some insight and a lot of people on this site appear to have some experience and good knowledge about the matter. I created a profile on Yahoo Personals, hoping to meet a decent local (USA) woman to date and LTR. Instead all I got was FSU women looking to marry an American guy. Now I was not seeking an international relationship and even told these women as such. But then I got intrigued by a couple of them and have a dialogue going. What got me interested is that these ladies are absolutely gorgeous and well educated (a couple of them claim to be doctors) and seemingly the types of girls you'd want to bring home to mother. Now I'm an average looking guy and above average financially but also a realist. So I know that if these women were American, I would be nowhere in their league if they are what they say they are. I have so far only e-mail with these four ladies, 3 Russian and one Ukrainian. Though they are all wanting to talk on the phone now. So far what I read on the site seems to match with my experience. That is the Ukrainian woman is more polished, better English, more aggressive, and seems to have traveled to a few places. The Russian girls are not as worldly but seem more genuine. All the girls are between 28 and 30. I am 41.
So here are my questions:
1) Why are these ladies on Yahoo instead of on one of the many Bridal sites where they would meet more marriage minded men and also have some protection from their agency.
2) They each have sent me enough pictures to make me believe it is not just some prankster. However, the letters are very formulaic, and never really answer any of my questions. They just talk about their situation and ask me a bunch of questions. What's going on there?
3) Why would such beautiful women who claim to be single, never married, and could have the best Russian (or Ukrainian) guy of their choosing (especially the two doctors) want an average American guy 10 to 12 years older then them? The Ukrainian women is the only one who claimed to have a live in boyfriend who dumped her after 8 years. The others admitted no long term relationships and claim there are no decent family oriented men in their towns/cities. Are things really that bad over there?
4) Though I have responded to their letters, I am mostly sarcastic, often making lite of their comments and in general showing disinterest in a long distance relationship leading to marriage. Yet they continue to write and send more pictures, each letter proclaiming greater fondness for me and wanting to further our relation. A western girl would told me to go phuck off by the second or third letter. What gives?
Thanks in advance to all of you for your responses.
Pure Scam!!! It is actually how I got started looking into Ukrainian/Russian Women was from one of these scams. Got this email from Yahoo and she told me she was from Russia. After a few emails without a question being answered directly figured it all out that is was a scam. But I was hooked on the beauty of these women and started my search looking for Ukrainian/Russian Women here.

Who says they are not there also?

Stop looking at the pictures!!!

Sounds too good to be true, right?

Wait until they ask for money? Then ask the question again.
It is just as anything in America. ADVERTISEMENT WORKS. Why is the budget so incredibly high for most major companies trying to sell something??? Because being repeatedly bombarded with ads (a form of brainwashing) eventually convinces the average person to cave into the belief that they need this product. You come across as an above average person. You asked questions and seemed to have already known the answers. These ladies believe they already 'got you on the hook'. They do. But you must remain the fisherman, not the quarry. To use a fishing analogy, when you have a junk fish on the line and don't want to land it, just shake it off and re-bait your line. What you are doing is trying to change the bait with the fish still hooked. And also, for sport you are playing a fish you do not intend on keeping. If you believe it is too good to be true -or unless you are enjoying wasting your time - stop replying and block their correspondence. Good luck with American women.
Use caution on all women until you can prove them real. Google their names and even a few unique sentences (the ones with strange wording) from their first letters this will sometimes turn up a scammer. In your email program turn on "full headers" then copy and past the full header into the following application to find out where they are writing from... it's about 90% accurate.
1) People may be less aware on Yahoo since they don't come in expecting "hot young eastern european women looking for marriage to any western man." Given the competition of older and heavier women, it's an easier pond to fish :)
Though to be honest, I can't help at times to be mesmerize by the photos thinking "this could be my wife. Did I win the lottery?"
Dont waste time and effort doing many emails, just speak on skype, you will be able to see each other face to face , then you can read their face. If its a scam they wont argree to video skpye. If you dont like her afterwards you can block her contacting you again.
Its quite simple, I cant understand how long some of you guys are spending on this.
I met the woman of my dreams, moved to ukraine and got married in 1 year total.
Thanks to all of you for your comments and suggestions. Thanks also to the administrator for posting. I checked 2 -3 days after posting and it still was not approved so I did not think it would ever get posted.
Probowler -> I was thinking scam too, but I am not convinced one way or the other.
baron555 ->
Yes it does sound too good to be true and I was taught "if it is too good to be true, then it's not". And I actually did read their letters, or try to, (the translation really mangles things up) and not just look at the pictures. True to form, the higher the education, the better the English and their thoughts. None have asked for money and two stopped writing when I told them I was not looking for an international hookup. Though the Ukrainian lady did ask me to send her flowers on her birthday.
Ralph29 -> I did tell them all that I was not seeking an FSU bride and stopped responding except one. We seem to have struck up a pen pal relation. I think I need more than luck with the American women.
Mini-Cooper and sjg-uk -> thanks for the tips.
neoKEN -> can't help thinking "this could be my wife. Did I win the lottery?" LOL my sentiments exactly. I may have to convert and start believing in the FSU way of life.
Its a scam, most of the popular chat sites are free for the girls to get on but certain things like exchanging e-mail addresses and asking for gifts and money is monitored and if the girls get found out they get kicked off. Yahoo is the best way for the scammers to isolate you and groom you and eventualy start asking for money in the form of anything from medecine required, to pay a bill a present for her kid etc. Theres also a significant chance that it is a false profile with made up pictures. Do the header check to find out the original i.p address, be warned though that a lot of yahoo addresses wont give out the original i.p.
Hmmm. The counter says 12 replies but I count only 9 including my two posts.
MiniCooper -> Thanks for suggesting searching sentences in Google. Found exact copy of letters from two of them on Scammer Alert sites. The third was more cleaver. Long letters with pictures were unique but short letters ("I miss you, why you don't write") were exact copies on Scammer Alert sites.
I also tracked the IP and most were spoof from cities all over US. A few from Hong Kong. Only one lady's letters traced to Yoshkar Ola every time. Her letters were in poorest English and she didn't seem to understand my relatively simple letters either. Sadly she might be the only READ DEAL.
They stopped writing after I stopped replying till today. Two of them started up again. I guess other fishes are not taking their bait either. LOL.
I finally got a response from an average looking local American woman. Just for shits and giggles, I put her IP in the header tool. Wouldn't you know it. Oslo, Norway. Damn. The quest continues....
