Hey guys, I am going to Odessa in a few weeks to visit a girl. How does it cost to eat there and what are good restaurants to go to that won't rip me off. I also trying to visit Nikolaev, and don't know how to get there without getting overcharge by a taxi, what's a reasonable price? Or is there a bus from Odessa to Nikolaeve. I only want to go for a day and return to Odessa in the evening.
Buffalo 99 sports cafe on 7 Rishelievskaya str
Estrellita on 1 Yekaterininskaya, near potyomkin steps( breakfast)
Fanconi restaurant/cafe on 8 Yekaterininskaya str
O'Neills Irish Pub on Deribasovskaya str( never been there)
Kumanets on 7 Gavannaya str ( good ukrainian food)
Steakhouse on Deribasovskaya str( bull in front)
Zara Pizzara on Rishelevskaya str ( will try this next time)
Also a japanese restaurant( don't remember name) on rishelevskaya str 3 blocks south from Deribasovskaya on left, really good food.
All within a couple blocks of each other in city centre. Oh, my friends restaurant on corner of Bunina/Alexandrovskiy....for $5 a large 'chicken burrito' and large beer!!!!
If you want someone to make sure you get to where you want, if needed, try ukrainefare.com, I used them many times and they can get you apts, tranfers and taxis at reasonable pricing. Last time it was about $65 Odessa to Nikolaev.
In summer in Odessa in the central part it is hard to walk 10m without there being a nice open are cafe/restaurant that is reasonably priced and good to sit an watch the young ladies meander by.
I liked Top Sandvich on corner of Deribasovskaya and Yekaterinskaya and also the Motzart across from the opera house has lovely ambiance and food.
Pro-dating, by which I mean girls meeting you to get gifts and commission (from interpreter, apartment, restaurants etc) for example, is a major industry in Odessa. If she takes to "yokogama" to eat then shes a pro dater for sure.
Having said that Odessa a great place to spend a week (or two) ... just not such a great place to find a woman serious about marrying a foreigner ...
'pro dating' has spread like cancer throughout ukraine. but in my opinion it has been perfected in the southern cities of nikolaev, kherson and odessa.
my english teacher friend in kherson turned down a job at an 'anastasia' affiliate 'composing' letters for girls in their office.
i have personally seen the letter writing factory in nikolaev. they didn't even care that i could see them. i guess all the bad press hasn't hurt their business so they think, what the hell.
if i was going the 'anastasia' route. i would write to english speaking girls and get their phone number as soon as possible. you should be able to get a handle on their interest with phone calls. or emails.
if they don't have time to email you or its too expensive for them, i would say that they are probably not interested.
I met her on Natasha club. I am currently emailing two girls. One from Odessa the other from Nikolaev. The letters seem un-fake. But, as others have posted you don't really know until you try to contact them. One of the girls has given me her full name. Also, she writes me regularly. I have encountered scams of course. I hope these two are legitimate. I think there are actually some women on the site who are genuine in there desire. The tricky part is trying to filter them out. Anastasia is a joke. I think they are a rip off, and just farm the girls out to get money from men. I figure even if these are fake. I may meet a "real" person while I'm there.
I leave in two weeks and I don't plan on spending too much money. I have save for about 1000 dollars for the week I will be there. That should be enough, I hope. The way the Euro falling when I convert to ukrainian money it should go even further.
Nothing ventured nothing gained.
At least I hope so...
