Hi all
Im heading back to Ukraine this month, Im meeting a woman from Bila Tserkva! (From Mamba) I will be staying there for a week. Ive hired a car,so Im not worried about being cooked up in a smaller city for a week! she will meet me at the airport and drive me there in case I cant read the road signs! lol.
Ive done the usual google stuff, but Im just wondering if any of you have actually been there and can give me some idea of what to expect with this city?? Cheers
I had to Google the city name... never heard of it but that is not a bad thing. Generally, I would trust a girl from a smaller city before I would trust one from Kiev, Odessa, Lugansk and the other "man traps" in Ukraine. It sounds like you have applied all the normal tests so I wish you good luck on your trip and always remember to have a backup plan in case things fall apart.
hey carraig, how u doing??? If it is like other small towns, I call them villages, much of nothing to do other than food. Hey your almost half way, maybe you should take the drive down to Uman, a beautiful park reserve!!! Good luck!!!
As far as girls from mamba, most are just socializers or ones that its just the novelty. The only one that ever amounted to anything(see previous thread from last year) just arrived today, wow, wrapped in a nice bow........gonna have to find out how she got that visa to US from Moldova????
Starting to rethink this whole FSU thing.
Hi Beemer
Good to hear from you again! and congratulations! looks like you have scored a winner!
I have actually been back to Ukraine 4 times now since September! I kinda give up for a while, but I decided to go back to meet that girl again, we had a good time but I realise now that she isnt marriage material! The other woman I was trying trying to get the visa for was from Minsk! she eventually took a job on the cruise liners and is currently working out of Miami, so thats stll live, but on the long finger! So Ive been flirting around on mamba, I wouldnt even consider using a PPL site again.I have also built up a good network of friends around Kiev, Im happy to visit now without making prior arrangements!.
Smart Martin! Thanks for the tip, but as you may have gathered, Ive been to Ukraine 8 times now, and well in to double figures for my overall FSU tally! lol
The lady will be meeting me at the airport, so she will do most of the driving! we will probably spend some time exploring the area around Bila Tserkov! I done this before with a girl from Zhytomir! They love it when you dangle a car in front of them! lol.
Yea - been there last November
Its only about 90 mins drive from Kiev - might be less. We went on business to a clothes factory there, and our driver was an old chap (friend of the M-inlaws) he was 75 and drove an old Lada.
Came back in the dark and I must admit was a little worried with his driving.
It appeared to be a very nice town - we think a pop of approx 200k. I think it would be a pretty place this time of year.
Good luck and report back
Cheers for that Maxi! Yea, that sounds about right! Of couse Im going to be a bit nervous, plans have changed! The lady,s boss is being a prat and wont let her off to meet me at the airport, so it looks like Im hirng a sat/nav and driving there myself from Boryspol! now Im nervous! lol.
mamba is!!! mamba.ru
I highly recomend it for anyone who wants a dose of "real" FSU ladies and not the paid dating site types.
Carraig.....it does make me wonder when a girl changes plans and cannot meet as scheduled. I don't know, if will I ever, if it was just excuses and/or not ever going to happen. Why don't you just have taxi driving you where needed? My thought is KIS...so your focus is only on girl and she can help arrange any outing for you.
Girl staying with me is on internet a lot with friends/family. She is on site mentioned in another thread....http://www.odnoklassniki.ru/....(~myspace)it is interesting that mostly written in russian,
using english alphbet, talk about confusing, i don't understand much at all. Saw many pics of her friends, she tells me how they are looking for a nice man but never through agencies(taboo)...they all want to come here and have fun with us.....Las Vegas soon to come. One other thing...I came home the other day and girl was on computer watching a russian movie....apparently she knows all sites with free movies....and we pay for movies here.......go figure
carraig
I do not recommend doing that. Its very difficult thing to do on your own. This time of year not so bad with plenty of daylight – but boy it’s not an easy task
I can organise a very good chap with a late model Kia Ceed that could pick you up and deliver you there.
2 - 3 grivina (UAH) per kilometre is his charge
That goes for any others on here that want a trusting driver in or around Kiev - problem though - he not know much English.
I agree with beemer (I think I always agree with him :-)
This chap I recommend - will charge per kilometre on long trips - but charges approx 50grv per hour if driving you around city.
He is always happy to just sit and read the paper if he takes you out of Kiev to another town - you can suss the scene out and if all good send him on his way or return to Kiev with him - he happy to wait a few hours after a long taxi fare.
Beemer
They know all sites with everything FREEEEE
My wifes daughter has sites that crack anything - and can download all movies.
That driver man above I talking about - he not have internet - and we traded that 2012 movie (the week it come out) for a heap of mp3 music his friend sells at market.
You dont pay for much in Ukraine - our web site is hosted in Kiev and I havn't paid one $1 in the 5 months it been up.
DISCLAIMER: I have never driven a vehicle "over there" (if you don't count a go kart).
Several times, I've taken the bus south from Kyiv, and passed Bila Tserkva by the way (actually, we didn't pass it, but left the highway and made longish stops there). Most of the journey is on the M05/E95 (the highway that shoots all the way to the Black Sea at Odesa). I think the drive time would typically be less than 90 minutes.
If you pick up a car at the airport, in theory you go left at the end of the airport's long driveway, and follow the M03 toward Kyiv. It looks like it might stop being the M03 not long after you cross the river, but following the road straight will take you to the E95. To keep it simple, if you see a sign for Odessa, follow it!
Of course, once you take the exit for Bila Tserkva, it would be best if you have good directions from your lady friend.
Having said that, driving in Ukraine is rather intense, and I have read from multiple sources (including expats who have spent a lot of time in country) that traffic police sometimes look for pretty flimsy reasons to stop a vehicle -- and Ukraine definitely has some traffic laws quite different from what I know in the USA, things I wouldn't guess or know to look out for.
I would carefully weigh my options, before deciding to drive myself. However you choose to get there, best of luck!
I didn't notice anything bad or more dangerous about Ukraine drivers. And, I didn't notice anything different about the laws. Then again, I was not paying that much attention to the rules of the road. There are wierdos, but then again there are wierdos everywhere.
I do remember going through a small community on the way to Zaporozhye airport. There was not very much traffic. A car apparently skidded and hit an elderly lady, probably in her 60's. The driver was probably speeding. I believe most accidents occur because of speeding. There was ice on the road and it was slippery. She was unconscious, probably dead. The "doctor" I was with just kept on talking to the taxi driver and ignored the scene outside.
RB your above post is extremely contradictory to say the least.
You didn't notice anything bad or more dangerous about Ukraine drivers, but you witnessed an old lady being hit by a car, and "probably" killed and the doctor you were with didn;t even bother to go out and have a look?
Not something you see here every day I can tell you.
I didn't witness the accident, only after the fact. I didn't who the driver was. I said probably speeding. Even if he wasn't, the road was icy. I see people speeding all the time, and driving recklessly. I had doubts that the "doctor" that i visited for that week was a doctor at all.
