Hello, I have just returned from Crimea where I managed to get my passport translated (into Ukrainian) and authenticated. However they would not translate my birth certificate. They told me I must have it authenticated in UK....? Anyone who's been through all this could really do a very good deed by simply spending five minutes responding to this thread and telling me what the **** I must do! My woman has mentioned 'Apostil's' and 'Form 36'. I have an appointment for my C.N.I interview (Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage) and translated passport (mentioned above) but knowing what else needs buying, arranging, translating, signing or offering as sacrifice to the Gods would really help. Thanks

You must be more specific. It seems as though you plan to marry in Ukraine. Is this correct?

You must get a copy of your passport apostilled, your certificate of no impediment and your birth certificate?. This is done at department of foreign affairs. You then need to send these to your Ukrainian embassy and have them give you a letter that there is no issue for you to be married. If you are divorced u need to send that to embassy as well. I suggest talk to embassy in Kiev for advice. Then get all these documents translated and notorised. I used a company called April in Kiev. They did the translations and then went with me to a notary and did the translation for me and I got them stamped. Before that the notaries would not certify the translations. Its a real pain.

Ralph/GD, I am UK citizen and I plan to marry in Crimea, Ukraine in September, to a lady born and bred in Simferopol, Crimea. She has never been married previously. Since starting this thread I have discovered that 'Form 36' is Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage (C.N.I). Ukrainians routinely call it Form 36, Brits call it C.N.I. Neither seems aware of the others terminology! Gemini Dreams, DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS??? Is this in Ukraine??? I am not divorced, never been married before.

Santiago Im Australian so not sure what your equivalent is called. We call it Dept of Foreign Affairs I think you call it the Foreign Office. I did get married there but the paperwork is a pain. I suggest you talk to your embassy in Kiev. I thought I had everything together then found out I had to send most of my stuff to Moscow where the Australian Embassy is locate for them to provide a letter to say there is no impediment to get married.
