could someone give me the dope on the costs involved to get an international ukrainian passport? a girl that i have been corresponding with has been hinting that she would like to get one but can't afford it. here's the prices she mentioned (processing/price): 1 day/us$450; 2 weeks/us$350; 1 month/us$290; 2 months/us$190
i think the prices are high...
i'm certain she's a real girl (and not some phantom letter writer hiding behind model pics) but i'm thinking 70% chance she's a $digger. i'm just playing along for now to see what will turn up.
I paid $200 for an international passport for my gf in Kerch. That is all she asked for. I didn't ask where she got it. She must have gotten it through an agency. It might even be fake, but looks like the real thing. I do remember doing a search engine on it and got something more expensive.
My advise is to meet her before you send money. It is the way of the world for a man to court a woman. Something is not right if she is independent enough to suggest to make the journey and yet has now means to do so. I have had a woman come to meet me and she made all the arrangements to get herself here. I have also had a woman ask for money to get a visa and airplane ticket. When I was firm on the fact that I must come to her country and meet on her soil, she told me it was not safe because of "Skinheads". I told her that would not deter me and I never heard from her again. The fact is that a woman that does not have the means to be self reliant, cannot and would not place herself in the position that has been presented to you. It is a scam or you should school her on just how foolish and dangerous such an action would be on her part, but she know that already.
Doubtful if a Ukraine passport costs more than 50 USD. It is fairly easy to get but there may (probably) be a long wait….months
I’d be wary that she did not mention that small fact. I’d also be wary that she doesn’t have a passport and even asking for one and the figures she quoted is a red flag. Unless the figures quoted are for an under the counter one.
The last lady who I brought to UK already had an international passport for the purpose of holidaying. This left her with the visa ordeal to go through, which she did alone.
It’s visa thing that’s the killer. If she hasn’t made any noises about that then I’d be asking why.
(and not some phantom letter writer hiding behind model pics)….I think you’ll find she is…the model pics are always the deal breaker
Some guys that visit this forum have Ukrainian wives or girlfriends all it would take is a phone call..
Last year there was a big deal being made about an 80 year old woman without a passport in Ukraine. It is my understanding that it is a requirement of law for adults to have a passport.
i know the girl's real because she's sent me a photo of herself holding a sign with my name. her pics don't look fake and she looks really good!
i know that doesn't mean she's not a scammer but at least it's not some ghostwriter. for now we're exchanging emails off site (her written english is adequate.)
true enough sending money isn't the wisest move but i spotted her a us$100 by western union for internet cafe costs. given how expensive it is to send something like flowers i thought that's about a wash. besides, that's not all that much and i won't be more real generous until we've met anyways.
i wouldn't get her anything other than the cheapest passport anyways. why should i be in a hurry to bring her over? if she's real she will know how to keep busy getting ready.
still, are those prices within a somewhat reasonable range?
I am not privy to the difference. A passport is by definition a means of identification and a means of signifying ones nationality for the purpose of passing ports of call. The lady of my affection is by family heritage Russian, but she has a Ukrainian Passport. Her sister has a Russian Passport and Bill did not have sex with "that woman". My reference was only that the old woman never had any papers under the Tzar, the Chairmen or under the flag of Blue and Gold. So in fact the woman was in her 90's. With the changes of the last 20 years in the region, it does make sence to have definition of the borders and populace. Unlike this country (Arizona excepted)
So whats the answer then, how much is an international passport and are they now biometric ?, that stuffs on a database and biometric passports are a kind of visa, most border agencies can pre check a person because they have to reveal passport info on buying a ticket to fly, if you got an under the counter passport then how the hell can you get past biometric checking systems ?
Three years ago I helped somebody get a passport the cheapest way possible (waiting the longest). If I remember correctly, it cost me around $150, when the Hrivna was below 7 per dollar.
Call it inflation, but I believe those prices you wrote.
This may help a lot of people. FORGET ANYTHING that your girl 'tells' you, regardless of how good her source, as in Ukraine as most other ex-CIS states, there is a high level of more money quicker documents and handling fees all the way along the greasy chain to the fat buddha sitting in his office in Kiev. The official take on price for an internation visa (this is NOT a passport in itself just a travel document that authorises them to leave the Ukraine, so don't get fobbed oiff and conned by mention of 2-3-4-5-600 dollars for the price of getting it quickly, all bullcrap. Here's an official ministry of interior email I received in Ukranian and English should your 'hot date' doubt its authenticity and you have the pleasure of wheedling out the money fraudsters and scammers straight away, play dumb, ask the question, if the response is near or at most double the official price, you're probably ok, (Western Union is best option for Ukraine). Anything more than that its a scam and you'll lose the lot - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

If you want to email them yourself (be polite) - here's the email address you need, assuming that all regional offices operate the same policy for quoting a true and legal price.

Hope this helps a lot of people out there from being screwed over from the hot girl from Lughansk ... oh, and steer WELL clear of Kharkiv (Harkov) girls .... fast become a nightmare city of scammers and fraudsters.
Never pay for any service for anybody you have never met in person:) This is the rule we have said here hundreds of time. Any normal lady will not ask you for money. so use your brains instead of the other head befor e paying money to any girl for her to get passport, then tickets, them insurance, then....:)
The woman I am in relationship with now. Has never asked me for one cent before I met her when I am with her. When we talk on skype now. I offer help, she says she is fine. She knows I would in a second jump in to help. Still she does not ask.
Jonboy, what you say is right, if you are willing to wait or willing to travel many miles to deal with appropriate agencys to get things done in there own good time, thats fine.
but the system there has a way of short cutting or doing away with bureaucratic crap, and this is when the price becomes quite different,,, its a true user pays system if you want to cut away time or travel issues.
we are not talking scamming here, it is corruption in the system, type of corruption we need in my country do we ever.
as in trusting a girl with money, this just isn't a issue.
you should have already sorted out all the dodgy avenues to be comfortable in your self about her before you are even contemplating immigration stuff with her.
if you haven't, you dont give her one dime.
Message for jonboy or anyone else :
If the travel document costs 45 as you say then am I correct in assuming you have not addressed the cost of the passport itself with your response "This may help a lot of people. It seems to me that there are then actuAlly 2 costs ; one for travel documentation as well as passport . Could someone respond addressing both issues in the same reply if they can ? Thank you
Latest modus operandi on the block. The girl will make you believe that she will marry you, even. And you will fall for it. You will send her passport money and tickets. She will come. She will seduce you into spending half the money Michael Jackson left in his will! Then she will say her father/ mother/ grandmother is sick and may die soon. So she will have to return. But she quit her job to come to you. And so has no money. You will pay her about 4000 UAH. She will promise to return. For two weeks she'll communicate with you normally. And then she'll simply vanish into thin air. But there are genuine cases as well...But it is impossible to spot the not!
