There doesn't seem to be a search function...this seems like it has to have been discussed already. Anyone have any experience with using them with Russian, or any language, for that matter.
Don't like these electronic translators myself. Only useful for shopping for groceries. When I needed to ask directions in Moscow from a babushka it didn't seem to help. She couldn't understand anything! I prefer google translate!
Gallardo,
I have successfully negotiated the Ukrainian and Russian countries over the past 7 years with only an electronic translator. It is surprising how many of them know English and you don't really have to rely on the electronic translator that much. My translator is a touch screen "ECTACO iTRAVL TL-6". It is much more than a mere translator it is powered by "Windows CE" and provides many, many other functions other than a simple translator. It features a full touch screen keyboard (Russian or English) and too many other options to mention. I don't think this particular model it is available now because they have upgraded their translators. However, I have never been let down by carrying this simple device with me. Whether it be taxi drivers, ordering a drink at a bar or making first contact with a woman… it has helped me. But it does not come cheap... be prepared to spend about $400 on it.
