It drove the homeowner and the neighbors nuts. Finally one day the parents and school principal were contacted. The boy was caught and punished. He was no longer allowed to walk down that side of the street. And he never teased the dog again. The dog quit barking and everyone was finally pleased to not have to hear that dumb dog bark anymore. Years later after the boy grew older and wiser he realized what a fool he was. That his mischievous and foolish behavior caused grief to others. And that the poor old dog never barked unless someone banged on his fence with a stick.
