These girls almost always look like models, and have always agency emails. I also find suspicious the fact that I receive so many letters from girls in this particular town, but not so many from other places. Where is the catch? Anyone experienced the same with Nikolaev girls? Please enlight me ... On fiance.com, you'll probably find more girls from Nikolaev than from Moscow - one of the biggest cities in the world. There's a simple reason: In Nik, the girls at university see it as a completely acceptable summer job to work for the agencies, getting paid to receive letters. Even through fiance.com, their agency gets paid per letter, so if you reply to them, they get paid. "Da moi magoo!" You can be my campaign manager :) Danny, the first girl ever to email me from fsu was from Nikolaev - black hair, name Tatiana, very tall, poor English (according to the profile). When I got there, blonde hair, short, real name Viktoria, pretty good English. It was she who 'fessed up' about the way it works there, the amount of agencies etc. She was at University herself, and faking was a summer job. Overrall, she didn't feel bad about it, but I wasn't some decrepit old man sending naked photos and coming over for a sex holiday (which she said was the mainstay), she didn't want to scam me, so met me anyway without the agency knowing. On the other hand, I did get writing to a very nice older (well, 29) lady from there, who I sent flowers to, got the pics, saw the video etc (all of which 'learned after burned'). Everything went well until I broke it off because of my Mariupol escapade, but I was convinced she was genuine, so there are real girls out there - just like Lugansk or Odessa - you just have to do a lot of 'sifting' to find something real. Well, if there are 100 girls working for an agency in Nikolaev and 20 girls working for agencies in Moscow and you have no chance both in Nikolaev and in Moscow (you all guys really don't have any chance working only with agency girls)so what is the difference where to be scammed, in Nikolaev by some of those 100 girls or in Moscow by some of those 20 girls. (In fact, Nikolaev is much cheaper than Moscow, so go to Nikolaev) It's a kind of joke, but there's more truth than joke there. The fact is though, Armin, that I've met independent girls and agency girls in a few different cities now. There are lots of genuine girls with agencies in Kiev, Sumy etc., that I've met and know for certain that they're for real. In the past there used to be lots of russian dating websites that worked on a pay-per-letter basis. Obviusly it was a rip-off. Anyone could realise the only reason for most emails was simply to get paid. I thought it was a thing of the past and now most sites seem to work on a flat fee basis. Really, if fiance.com still pays agencies on a per letter basis, I will cancel my subscription, as I see it is pointless to read or write letters whose only motivation are to get money. It is scary to think there are still hundred of girls that take "writing letters" as a Summer job. What a joke ! Also, I've never been to Ukraine or Russia. In fact I have not been very active contacting girls or replaying to their emails. But when I hear all these stories about "dates" in wich the man has to pay an agency fee, plus apartment/hotel, plus taxi fares, train tickets, plus restaurants, plus translators charging in a day what in Ukraine would be a month's wage ... really, I start thinking if we have all become nuts. If I ever go there ... really ... I will never accept meeting someone who is not willing to do at least a small effort to meet me and expects more payment than my mere company. It is OK if I pay for a meal in the average restaurant, or help with travel expenses if the girl lives too far ... but having to spend a few hundred $$ in all kind of fees for someone to meet me, is not only a waste of money, but also a waste of time. I think anyone with a minimum of common sense would realise such an arrangement can almost always be only motivated by the business it generates. What do you guys think about this?? Have you ever been into the "agency, taxi, restaurant, translator" sort of date ?? Didn't you feel as if someone had had a laugh right at your face ??? Since I didn't know crap about Russian travel or the language including the horror stories I heard about 'mericans getting ripped off kidnapped and killed... she decided to meet "half way". She traveled on her own dime, wouldn't accept anything in the form of a gift etc. Cooked me a meal and ironed my shirts - I didn't think they needed ironing. I suggest to you if you are really serious to look into Russia. More work is involved. Stay away from the big cities and leave Ukraine in your rear view mirror. I think the school guidance counselors in Ukraine list 'dating foreigners' as a career opportunity.
