Just got home from Kiev where my lady met me at the airport. Her son lives in Kiev so I asked if she would like to stay there for the week while I was there. Her youngest son is at university so he came to stay Friday and Saturday. this was probably the best trip I have in Ukraine, she was fantastic and both boys were great. she was careful not to let me spend much money so we mostly ate at the apartment and only ate out when we were with the boys or a couple of my friends who are in Kiev. she looked at some of the stores once and said prices are to high to buy in Kiev. I didn't take her to the outdoor market because the weather turned a little cooler and it rained. she did get an ear infection about 3 days into the trip and it got worse as time went on, she was a real trooper and toughed it out. she wouldn't even let me get her a taxi back to Sumy insisted on riding the bus both ways. I did manage to get a little work done but was quite busy with other things.
it is funny how things work out some times. I was seeing another girl and she decided the time and distance were to much for her so it was arranged for me to meet 2 other lady's and she was one of them. from the first time we met we hit it off and have talked and emailed every day from then on.
Best wishes Bowhunter, I as you have just returned from Ukraine (four days ago) and I know what you are talking about when you say the weather in Kiev was bad... fortunately we spent our time in sunny Sevastopol and went to the beach every day. Good to hear you have found the real deal; it is refreshing to spend time with someone who is interested in you as a partner and not as a sugar daddy.
You from USA, bowhunter?
dont forget about all the BS laws only Americans have to comply with!!!
Ive been doing the prep work for a K1 for a few weeks now off and on.
background checks for each state Ive lived in, verification of IMBRA compliance,
proof of relationship, etc.
Wow, that was quick! But Ralph and the woman who became his wife, also agreed to marry, and started the immigration process, after one meeting.
For what it's worth (maybe not much, I haven't come close to success), I would want to see her as much as practical during the next few months. I think that a long (3+ weeks) visit could be an important step in getting to know each other.
However your journey will be, my best wishes to you both!
durak, for the record it was a bit more complicated than just one meeting for me. it was not just after the first meeting that we agreed to spend our lives together. you do recall the trip in july (almost 8 weeks after my first trip that had to be postponed) and the circumstances surrounding that. alas, sometimes you just get lucky and the stars align... if I had met 1000 women and made a thousand trips I could not have met a better person. she is an incredible woman.
certainly bowhunter knows his destiny and surely has a good idea after having met so many different women. it's hard to explain to someone who hasn't experienced it. I am sure he is not out of his mind. and for the record this was his second meeting with this woman specifically with the intention to solidify something he sensed from their first meeting. I think I am correct here.
bh - time to wax the bow and stick one! I decided to go for it despite protests from the wife - I should take care of the arm. but I have a place I can ground hunt with a crossbow - DOEBURGERS!!!
My brain is even more scattered than usual, but I had the impression that bowhunter's previous meeting with his lady was rather short.
Anyway, I certainly am not criticizing! In my parents' generation, it was not so unusual for couples to become engaged who had known each other for less than a month, and by the way had not slept together.
And even today, people sometimes fall in love, who have only written letters to each other.
When the chemistry is great, it can become apparent in a very short time.
Agreed, i wanted to be with the last wife after 3 dates and it lasted 13 years so I agree that when the starts align and the chemistry is there the other stuff you work out as you go along.
got the bow ready :) the first time we only met for 2 days then over the next 3 months talked over the phone and yahoo. the last trip was 7 days together then more calls and yahoo every day. I am lucky no IMBRA issues since we didn't meet from letter writing or over the internet. The visa forms are a pain in the a$$ with having to have some words translated. she did get ill the last 3 days so we didn't have time to fill out one form I needed to file for visa. we did get a lot more of them filled out so she should be here by spring and I will of course make a couple more trips to see her. for those of you who know me you can see our pictures on facebook. I will of course keep an eye in the forum to assist any one who wants information on Sumy or any of my contacts in other city's. I also maintain a blog with links to services I use on my web site, you can pm me for the address and I do not spam users of the site.
I had every intention of contacting each of you and asking if perhaps we could meet for a drink in Kiev. I just returned myself on October 3rd. But unfortuantely I never made it to Kiev proper.
I often plan the majority of my trips on the fly and this time, after landing at Boryspol I had a driver take me to Kharkov. Then I took bus to Poltava and eventually driver took me back to Boryspol. So I was never in Kiev.
I truly hope someday that the trips of one or two of us overlap again and we can meet for a drink. I've met a few forum members in the past and they have been very interesting people to get to know. I am sure this would have been the same.
i landed here on the 3rd after a layover in Amsterdam again. I did meet up with a couple of the forum members while i was there and we had a good time.
Hey Bowhunter!!!! Amsterdam? Layover? Sounds like a short trip to the red light district!!!!!
Seems this girl turns out better than last one...did you see Pete this time?
