I've got a cell phone for use in Ukraine and my lady has an U-tel for the laptop I gave her. I just bought an unlocked Android without any service in America. What are the options for using a smart phone in Ukraine or Europe. THe U-tel is great service, but I would like to go more high tech
they have 3G service from a few carriers. my Iphone works but since it isn't unlocked I just buy a data package from my service provider. Verizon will sell you service in Europe but it wont work in Ukraine. I have AT&T works all over. I would suggest getting an Iphone then let her buy service there. I think Samsung has a few phones that you can purchase in Ukraine that might suit your needs.
I almost forgot only a couple android models will work over seas. the thing you need is a quad band gsm phone. I think the samsung vibrant is one of the few that will work.
For regular unlimited phone service, I was thinking of Magic Jack. I got one for my use a couple of months ago. The unit is the size of a match box. It is unlimited phone use for the cost of the unit, which is $49.95. It works great, as long as you don't use the computer while you are talking to the phone.
I have not used it on another computer, but they tell me you can transfer it from computer to computer. You can travel with it and make phone calls and it will look like you are making phone calls from home. I hear you can also take it overseas, find an internet connection and make phone calls from your own area code at home.
