You can't read my mind Ralph, but I can read yours!!!!
Btw, in Peru, women who want rid of their husbands have a tendency to use poison.
RB, I won't bother commenting on what was said, as anyone who knows catholicism knows the answer. In case anyone doesn't, I'd just recommend googling "papal indulgences" and the "95 theses"
"Catholics certainly make it hard to divorce or annul, which probably is a factor in Mexico's rate of divorce."
Jeez, wonder where those came from???? Not from Wikipedia!!! So I guess from .....top of the head.......
Make it hard to annul(Catholis religion DOES NOT divorce you)??? You mean to file the paperwork and have a priest sign it? Other than the admin fee, jeez...took me all of half an hour!!!!! Divorce in legal system....took me nearly 2 years lots of $$$ and I got a few 'parting gifts'!!!!
Annulment v Divorce.....they are way different. Annulment makes your marriage invalid from beginning, while divorce means from that point forward you are not married....legally, not sure of the specifics....
Ralph, didn't you know...Muzzy only chimes in when he 'feels' that what you write is of 'importance' to this forum....since we don't have a moderator here!!!!
Well Beemer, you can divorce whichever you want and it will be as easy as you say. If you are a Catholic it will not be recognized. If you are a Catholic and value religion, you would consider that making it hard for you. If you have no concept or have a low disregard of religion, you will not understand.
Actually Beemer, it's more that I chime in when I feel something is of importance to me - much as anyone else does.
I just don't feel the need to shout my two pennies about every subject under the sun, and keep going until I've made everyone agree with me. I'm actually okay with the concept of people disagreeing with me or thinking I'm wrong, so I tend to do less arguing than some.
Never argue with an idiot. They just drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience!
Well, Muzzy the last two times I remotely mentioned religion, you chimed in. I can see how selective you are. Ralph was just joking, but what he wrote was not even close to my post that you responded to.
Are you sure you are a preacher, Muzzy? Preachers give inspirational messages at the pulpit, at weddings, funerals, even at parties and in everyday life. Joking or otherwise, I don't know preachers who gives this thought:
"Btw, in Peru, women who want rid of their husbands have a tendency to use poison."
We are all individuals we are own kindred spirits, if I choose to make a point I will BUT with some knowledge on that subject(that make sense)......or at least to intelligently pretend to have some.
one last time on this - 'it depends' is the answer... rb, the church grants annulments all the time, but depending on circumstances, the 'admin fee' is on a graduated scale. one thing is if one of the parties wants to contest it it turns into a trial. I contested my annulment on the basis that there were no grounds for a divorce in the first place... so just because joe lawyer can convince a judge to issue a decree of divorce doesn't necessarily mean the archbishop of whereyouraticca will grant an annulment of the sacrament. the last correspondence I received from the archdiocese of allentown was that if I still wanted to challenge the decision all I had to do was to send another certified check for $3500 and they would review the case again. that was the day I quit the church. sure I kept going and sung in the choir until they could find a replacement for me - difficult task as it was. let's face it, catholicism is big business and they want to keep their customers. if they didn't grant annulments they would lose customers and their bottom line would suffer. I won't get into the indulgences or the 99 (95?) theses, let that to the scholars. Luther did rattle the cage just a little ;)
rb- don't know if you likes the stones or not. there was a song on the 'Some Girls' album with a little reference to religion in it.
enjoy!
Right, Ralph. I am sure you are 100% correct. It was never my intention for the subject to get this far. I never said anything about annulments. I said divorces. Catholics are not allowed to divorce. Therefore, they change it annulments. It is a just a question of semantics isn't it?
Annulments, if you go by the Bible will be impossible, or at the very least, very difficult wouldn't it? The criteria in which they do this has been loosened, apparently by bribery for one, but in a strict sense, annulments in many cases will not be granted. Therefore, many in Mexico will not divorce.
I do so wish more people were like you. I think there'd be far more substance to the forum, and a little less wading through the mindless dross to find it!
If only!
For my part, as long as I appear to be less stupid than I actually am, then I call it a win! :)
RB, I could go into your post, once again defending myself against you, but I just don't want to. What's the point? I actually have better things to do with my time than live up to your expectations. Since you question my profession, however, here's one of my current projects that I'm doing with my church youth group. I do hope it meets with your approval, and that you find it 'inspirational' enough!

Some things matter, some things don't. Some people get that, some people don't.
What matters to some doesn't to others. It is not just what you think that matter that do.
Of course you do things like that. You get paid for it. Would you do that if you weren't paid for it? If I am a prude for thinking homicides and poisonings are not joking matters, then so be it.
They accept pretty much anything without high heels.
RB, I'd been doing this for 20 years voluntarily before taking a £10k per year pay cut to do it full time. Transferring to this job landed me in £30k of debt, and cost a lot more besides. I have a staff of 20, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF WHICH is a volunteer, from ages 15 - 30.
Precisely where did I mention homicide or poisoning being a joke? Or should I point you to the organisation in Peru who works with battered women, too? And no, I don't get paid for that!!!
There really isn't any point in discussing any of this though, is there? After all, you're perfect and the rest of us are all wrong and evil, aren't we?
Pompous, uninvolved, hypocritical ass!!!!
You know how to PM me if you really want to continue this ridiculous discussion.
Whoa. I got the preacher to call me names. Ralph said the homicide was a joke, you reinforced it with the poisoning story. Joke or otherwise, I am a Pompous, uninvolved, hypocritical ass for pointing it out!!!
I remember myself being told to ignore the rantings of a certain individual. but out of frustration, and of course because I can also be an ass at times, I CHOOSE to get into it with one.
please do not loose your own sensibility by falling into the rb trap. leave that up to Ivor and me. others already think we are just antagonists anyway. you have no need to explain yourself to anyone. especially someone who for the most part continually engages in confrontations with whomever happens to the adversary of the moment.
please allow me to take on the aggressions of RAGINGBULLSHIT. I am much better suited for it. I, after all, am just an angry white man. I take pleasure in stirring up controversy. Actually that is not true. I just can't stand stupid people doing stupid things. I hate it when people apply their brakes before they put on the turn signal at the last moment. And when people utter a bunch of nonsense and then go on the warpath when they are taken to task for it. Or when someone who tries to come across as an experienced and knowledgeable individual on the subject of FSU women - esp one who hasn't a clue - tries to offer advice to others. and those who may not know the source will believe said advice is coming from someone who actually has a clue.
yes, I tried to "let me be me", but when being me causes an otherwise very sensible man to lose his cool I must once again become the ass. rb, please do not bother to PM muzzy. just refocus your anger toward me again. thanks in advance.
Well, Muzzy. As great as your organization might be, what a way to describe what is going on in it.
"Btw, in Peru, women who want rid of their husbands have a tendency to use poison. "
Didn't I tell you Ralph listens to you? Look at the length of what he is willing to do for you. It would be interesting to see if you stood on one side of him, and his wife on the other and both of you call him at the same time. I wonder who he goes to?
rb - you never said anything about annulments? a one rasputen asked if there was a difference - legally speaking I think - between divorce and annulment. others have tried to clear it up. why must you presume EVERYTHING, EVERY FKKKKNG THING POSTED IS DIRECTED AT YOU? WHY?
you bash muzzy because he makes a matter of fact comment. then insult the man's vocation in an accusatory manner. I happen to know a man who was in my profession - making good bucks - and "threw it all away" to become a minister. He now has his own parish and is quite happy and probably much better off than he was dealing with the corporate world. Now I am getting so pissed I am using proper capitalization in my sentences. I won't even bother to go back and correct it.
Let's see... hmmm? Jesse Jackson? Al Sharpton? The Reverend Al... Fine examples of men of the cloth. I wonder, do send money to every TV evangelist in the country? They need your money. And they are true purveyors of the good word.
"..and the preacher said, 'You know you always have the Lord by your side.' I was so pleased to hear of this this that I ran twenty red lights in His honor. Thank you Jesus, Thank you Lord. ...
The preacher just kept right on saying that all I had to do was to send ten dollars to the church of the sacred bleeding heart of Jesus located somewhere near Los Angeles and next week they would say my prayer on the radio. And all my dreams would come true. So I did..."
Well excuse me if that post was not directed at me. Was Beemer's post not directed at me either? Was my post not helpful to make the point? My whole motivation for responding to you in the first place was not about divorce or annulments, it was your joke about homicides.
My grandfather came to this country in 1925 and brought three of his brothers. One of these brothers was widowed and married a young Mexican late in his life in 1980's. They had a son who now lives in Guadalajara, Mexico. He is a friend on my Facebook. His family is afraid to come out at night and week-ends because of homicides. These homicides are done by only a handful of people. A very large majority are afraid, just like his (my) relatives, his wife and kids.
I agree with the many things you say about illegal aliens. You exaggerate, but most of it is true. There are far too many of them. Far too many people want to get to this country and they stand in the way because they cut to the front of the line. They are a big cause of our country and my state going broke because of services rendered to them. You can go on and on. In the end, they are just here to make a living. They are guilty of many things, but homicide is not one of them.
I have no regrets about bashing Muzzy. He comes in between yours and mine’s rantings and when I think he’s about to conclude it, and he could have, he stops short. In his words, “What’s the point?” The point is he could have stopped all of this. Why go into it in the first place if you stop short? He followed your homicide post with a poisoning post. You fault me for questioning that? Yes, I added that he was a preacher, because I did wonder. If he answered my question that it was a project for battered women, I would have been humbled. A simple answer could have taken one sentence. What was his answer?
“RB, I could go into your post, once again defending myself against you, but I just don't want to. What's the point? I actually have better things to do with my time than live up to your expectations.”
