This is my first post on this board so please bear with me if this has been covered; I tried using then search function however found no real definitive answer.
What is what could I expect to pay for an apartment in the summer in Kiev/Odessa/Nikloev per month ? I don't mind if its not exactly in the center of the city, it does not have to be luxurious(I actually prefer it to be "Ukrainian city average"), the paramount requirement would have to be that its "safe"(relatively safe from theft/break ins; not too concerned about muggings as I've been told I look imposing) and have a washing machine. I've also tried looking on the Ukraine apartment agency sites however most of them rent by day. I find it ridiculous to be paying by day when might be staying there for a month or more, then moving on to Odessa, Nikolev or Kharkov. I plan on staying in Ukraine for 3 Months, my planned budget is $13K CAD, however can balloon up to $30K CAD. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
-James
p.s.
A little about me so you can get a more accurate assessment of what I can handle is,early 30's Asian male, I can read/write russian and understand with limited intelligibility; I've been told I have decent pronunciation. I can also speak french, korean, japanese, italian, spanish and pigeon german. So if I the apartment is in a cultural borough of any of the languages afformentioned it would be a bonus.
Hi, you can rent an average comfort 1-2 bedroom flat in Nikolaev in the range $150-300 per month. These are the flats that locals can afford, more comfortable the flat more expensive it is. You can find of top comfort appartments for $500-700 per month.
Need any help in Nikolaev, don't hesitate to ask me for it.
you can expect Kiev to be a bit higher in price around the center but the Podol area is about the same. try Virtualtourist web site where you talk with some of the locals
