Not only US Americans can be blamed for being geographically illiterate. Take Russians for example. If you would tell any Russian you are from Vilnius (Lithuania) a vast majority of them would ask you "Oh I know, that's in Latvia!" or "Oh, I know you are from Czech Republic!". Then how many times Russians ask us whether we were French or German and we would say things to them and they got no clue where we are from or they would say that the guys from Italy are from Georgia, etc. Or the Poles would approach me automatically speaking in Swedish as if I was a Swede. Yet I met US Americans who told me that I look Russian or German and only one told me he can see I am from a Baltic country.
So it seems that people from any large and isolated country (USA, Russia, Australia) are pretty ignorant on foreign cultures. There was a girl in my class (in Europe), who could not show her own country on the map. Everyone was laughing. Yet Europeans seem to make fun of US Americans for just being ignorant geographically and that seems the European favourite subject to test Americans on.
In Europe - we are best (and specialise in) at geography. LOL
“The member “danny 41” or "dangood" makes statements that are untrue and offensive! We will not acknowledge his words, as not to give him any attention!”
Imagine growing up in a society that monitors everything you do. That feeds you propaganda and misinformation about the world, history etc. And one that crushes you if you go against that belief. Imagine that the history/text books of this society are exactly a tail of what you are expected to believe.
Then imagine that 'freedom' was introduced into your society about twenty years ago. The chaos of restructuring and the fact that there are still hardcore Lenin/Stalin types in government must get in the way of progress. Part of that progress is attempting to (or not) correct the information written in books. With the advent of the internet and satellite technology it is only recently - last ten years or so - that many are discovering what the world is really like. As profound as it may seem, when dealing with most Russians you are dealing with a relatively new society.
Imagine living in one of those typical Russian apartment buildings = 25 years ago - and knowing who was with the party and those suspected. Imagine casually saying to someone that you can pick up American radio broadcasts and listen to it. Imagine all of sudden having visitors in trench coats coming to your apartment questioning you. I can't imagine it but I am very close to someone who has experienced it. Imagine what it is like not being able to trust anyone. Imagine being carted off to jail or somewhere just because you make a seemingly innocent statement.
Remember Chernobyl? The Russian gov't said nothing was wrong. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?
So go easy on people who did not have the privilege of freedom of information and full disclosure of reality for many years.
Well said, Ralph. I suggest anyone who disagrees with you should visit North Korea, where such force-fed propaganda still happens. One example being that the official government line is that Neil Armstrong wasn't the first man on the moon - Kim Il Jong was. In fact, they say he was born there (not joking). They also state that his fashion sense has sparked worldwide trends (still not joking) and some believe he can control the weather with his moods (STILL not joking).
Your understanding of the world is a product of your education. How fortunate we all are...

It is a shame Danny has reduced a great many of them to whores and scammers and attacks those who associate with them. While he may be right in what they do that is not what they are. Given the chance, even the scammers will want to live a decent life.
Just for clarification, except for in Australia where they have the hole in the ozone layer resulting in the world's highest rates of skin cancer, the caucasian (white) populations of this world spend billions annually on holidays to sunnier climates and associated tanning products to transform themselves to a similar skin colour as RB naturally represents.
Some might call RB a 'smart ass' but he's one up on all these "I wannabee the same skin colour as RB" isn't he?
Just checked Google ... currently no ads for 'Dyslexic Carpenter Required'. :)
