I made the mistake and booked a flight from Kiev to Amsterdam to France then to America and I violated the Schengen agreement. The result was my fiance and daughter were denied boarding at the start of our trip (Kiev) and I ended up paying for more tickets for a direct flight three days later... very expensive.
