I am 50 years of age and have average looks and I am not rich. Lately I have been chatting with a few different women on Anastasia which I know has a horrible reputation. The women on there show a lot more interest than Elena's Models which I believe to be more genuine but I am also sure has it's fair share of scammers. I have also been in email contact with a woman on AFA for the past few months who is divorced with a child and mid thirties. Very nice person from what I can tell. But the thing is with some of the women that I believe to be genuine, they seem to be as doubtful about the whole process as many of the men. Even some of these women admitted that face to face meetings are the only way to be sure. I just think it's a shame that some people are not meeting up simply because of all of the doubt about the process and the hysteria about age gaps, cheats, scamming etc... I offered money to the one feom AFA as her son was being operated on. She thanked me and refused. She sometimes tells me how hard it is in Ukraine as a single parent but still refuses the money. I guess what I'm trying to say is that we should just go in with both eyes open and make a choice. If it does not turn out, life goes on. I have read some horrible stories on here re messy divorces and ripoffs but like others have said, it can happen in our own cities as well with women we thought we knew ! You can write hundreds of letters but you have to go there eventually. Everything in the letters can sound good but you'll never know about the chemistry UNTIL YOU GO THERE! First of all, I'm sure you know that you should have never offered money to anyone you've never met. The fact that she turned it down is actually a good sign that she's not a scammer. What you said about, going there with both eyes open and making a choice" is true. I don't think anyone should go there and expect to come back engaged or married. This is a process--a very expensive process and the expectation that you're going to come back with a fiance after a ten day trip is a poor one. Some websites refer to these guys as OTWs (One Trip Wonders) In my mind, the process is only just starting after you return home. That's when the letters, emails, Skype and plans for a future are to be evaluated--especially after the excitement and newness of the trip have worn off. The ladies have their own idea of how they're going to be scammed. They worry that they're going to be used as a sex recepticle and quickly forgotten. Some guys write many, many letters and never visit the girl. She has emotionally invested in someone who will travel there to meet her. No wonder they're suspicious and wary! Hopefully, we can avoid the messy divorces, the ripoffs, the green card shoppers, etc. by doing the go slow route. Look for body language, do her deeds match her words, etc. You can't read any body language via a letter or email. Even if you do meet, and the date went well,, that is not a 100% sign that she is honest and sincere! Being new to foreign dating and a foreign culture, she might do things that don’t seem quite right! Is it the difference in culture,,, or is she just giving you a line of B$?? If you start to see red flags,,, walk away! If you start to see little red ribbons,, and you’re making sounds like Marge Simpson does when she‘s worried,,, be careful and be ready to walk away. The one girl telling you, that she does not trust the system, does not mean she is honest either! She could simply be saying that to make herself look honest!! I have also read about success stories through meeting women from Anastasia. Elena'a Models from what I have seen is good but I have also heard about guys that had problems through them as well. I did not say I have been in correspondence with someone for 6 months, only a few months on AFA. Am I a sorry man, possibly, about many things but I also advise women quickly if I am not interested. I don't string people along. One woman I chatted with on Anastasia told me that an Aussie guy travelled to meet her, gave her some expensive jewelry and said to her, "but first let's have sex." She said she handed the jewelery back to him and walked away. As usual none of this stuff is simple and I don't expect anyone to waltz through the process without picking up some injuries along the way ! AFA is pretty expensive but nothing compared to Anastasia. There are some impressive women on AFA and I don't mean the 22 year old stunners, I mean genuine women in their mid thirties or a bit older who are the sort of women I am looking for. I know of more successes with EM than scam stories; the scammers are everywhere but smart men who have done their homework, plan and work a master plan, never have a problem. At 9:30 pm here in Kiev, my “ex” calls me and wants to meet me at the hotel in 30 minutes??!! I hadn’t shaved or showered today,,, I did it last night before going to bed, so I could be ready for the taxi early. I didn’t have anything unpacked either,,, so I quickly grabbed my clothes and showered, and ran downstairs,,, and of course waited!! When she arrived, the hotel staff at first would not let her upstairs with me,,, not even in the restaurant,,,, but she convinced them it was okay. We had a nice light supper together. We talked a lot about my trip and all of the problems,, then we talked about her problems?? Her apartment was broken into, computer stolen, I pod stolen, she needs a new apartment closer to work with less crime,,,, etc,,,, etc,,,,!! Before I got onto the plane to come here,,, I anticipated about how much she would need, lol I brought along 6,000USD in cash, and have already spent a 1/3 of it,, plus I have used my card here. I think the smartest thing for me to do,,, is to forget both of them?? But I have known Katya for 4 years now, and forgetting her is not possible!! A good thing to remember,,,, don’t take cold medicine after a double shot of Jaggermeister!! Oh,,, I did not spend the “1/3” in Kiev,,,, that happened in Sumy. Baron,,, if I applied the “master plan” to all of the women I chose to correspond with, I never would have left the U.S.!! That would be the good part of the plan??! You always talk about the age difference,, my Ira was only 2 years younger!! That is one reason why I have searched for younger ones!!! She did come from a small town,, but I met her in Moscow. We both decided to wait a year or two to have children. To better adjust to her new life and to make sure the marriage and the paperwork would last or work out. We never had major disagreements, but she was stubborn on a lot of little things. She moved back to Russia after a tragedy in her family. There was not much I could have done to change things. You and your girl have a lot of plans and dreams???? They are just words right now! Part of my time in Sumy that I have not yet talked about,,, and shouldn’t! lol I met with a girl I had seen the year before, she agreed to meet with me outside of the hotel. She had claimed to speak some English, but when she arrived, she had her brother and a friend along. We all went out to eat,,, The Grand Palace, then to a pharmacy to buy some prescription for her mother. When we got there, they were looking at a blood pressure monitor,, for her mother I would expect,, or me??? It took 30 minutes to buy, and then she also bought shampoo,,, I never saw the prescription? The monitor was less than 400UKR,, but the bill was 800UKR or 100US! From there, we went to play pool? Wow,,,, there is no polite way to say it,,,, the Ukrainian people are a bunch of hacks when it comes to pool!! And I am no good at it!! Haven’t played in years. Balls rolling around on the floor, the sticks hitting the lamps over the table,,, the works!! I slowly noticed,, that everyone was watching me?? We were playing 8 ball,,, they had two small tables for it. I played call your pocket, and the brother slowly caught on. The girls were drinking Martinis, then switched to Absinth with white soda. Walking down the sidewalk, I had to hold all three up at times!! I mentioned needing something from the EKO market,,, they did too!! I wanted to grab a cart,, which are very small, but they insisted on the baskets,,,, we don’t need very much!! That basket got pretty heavy,,, then her brother had one too,,, grabbing things from my basket to make it lighter. Lol The thought going through my head was,,,, ahhh, you bunch of A holes!!! Lol It was mostly practical things, that every one needs, except for the 2 bottles of white wine and the 2 teddy bears? While checking out, a bottle of dish soap leaked on the conveyor!! The flip cap was broken off and other items had become wet from it. The brother went to get a new bottle, and when he came back, two security guards were waiting for him!! They all argued for at least 20 minutes!! I’m thinking to myself,,, only in the Ukraine would something like this happen!! At home, the grocery store clerk would call a stock boy for a new bottle, and then apologize to me for the delay!!!! They got their new bottle, but I would rather have paid them for the first one, and got the fxxk out of there!! When they tallied up the bill, it came to 1,100UKR!! Oh sh!!,,, I’m not sure if I have that much,, so I handed them my card. It did not work?? Oh sh!!,,, I started counting money,,,, just so. I started the night with over 3,000UKR,, money that was meant to pay for three nights at the hotel, (more than enough)! It was a Saturday night,, tomorrow is Sunday,, will the little money exchange places be open?? Yes! That same night, I tried the ATM outside the hotel,, the same one that gave me problems last year,,,, it did not work!! I had that to think about all night, and got up early to try another ATM,, it worked. All of that running around outside is probably why I have a cold now??!! I had such a fun time in Sumy!!
