Just check out the embassy site for the place you wanna go, Russia, Ukraine, Blarus, Moldova etc, all requirements will be on the site.
If you need an invitation just book your hotel and they will "invite you" then go to the embassy for the country of your choice (or mail your app` if its a long way away) pay your fee and collect your visa.
Unless you have a criminal record, or some such previous problem then shouldnt have any problems getting a visa for any country of the FSU.
You see it goes like this, they want our dollars, therefore they rarely refuse anyone a visa, its getting the girls out of the countries, not us getting in, thats when it starts to get much more difficult !!!
I am not aware of package holidays there, unless you go with a "tour" the tours being the trips to meet upward of 300 women for the purpose of finding a partner for marriage, such as the one that Fiance.com has banners for on their main site.
I'm not sure that the tour operators do the actual visa getting even then, I think that part is up to you, but of course they most likely arrange your invitation, so all you need to do is go to the embassy of your destination country and collect the visa as soon as they notify you that they have arranged your invitation and it has been sent.
If you have only one girl you want to go and visit then I'm afraid its gonna be mostly up to you (with her help hopefully) to organise the whole thing yourself.
Hotels are easy to book, on-line or over the phone and once you do book they will ask you if you would like them to arrange your invitation for you (there is usually a charge for this from $25 to $50 usually ) they will do the paperwork for the "Ministry of Foreign affairs", which is the usual department who issue the official invitations, once they have done this for you, they usually fax/telex your invitation to the Embassy you have nominated in your country, from which you will obtain your visa, you go along pay your fee and they issue, usually the same day, and if you pay a little extra as I have always done, always within an hour !!!
It sounds complicated, but it really isn't,
what country are you from Trad ?
With regard to package tours, most airlines don't even fly to the FSU, and there are only a few which go from the UK.
BA Fly there, for Ukraine there is Ukraine airlines and for Russia, Aeroflot, Uzbekistan have their own airline too, but most of the flights going in and out of the FSU are by FSU based companies.
Package tour operators haven't yet moved into exploiting this new market as few people actually want to go there for a "holiday" other than wonderful people like us :o)) As the countries build themselves up in world trade and business abroad, and eventually have something tourists want to go and visit (en mass) then it will I am sure become attractive to the package tour operators.
(Latvia have got it sorted out and also regarding visa`s, Latvia have a 90 day no visa required reciprocal arrangement with the UK so if your lady is in Riga or thereabouts you wont need a visa at all)
In time things will become much easier but at the moment its just a few bits of paperwork harder than going to the USA.
I thought the only sights We want to go and see there are the ladies ?!!
Trad is one of us Jet :o)
I can honestly say I'm not going there to look at the lovely scenic views !!
Not unless its a scenic view containing a large crowd of lovely looking women, then I might make an exception
;o)
On a slightly more serious note, these tourist tours are OK if you wanna look at the scenery but you wont necessarily be meeting the women you want to meet if you take one of them. On the other hand, if you have some contacts with ladies in say St P Burg, who you have started corresponding with already, and you can arrange to meet up with them over a week or twos holiday with one of these tour companies then go for it :o)
It would be a good way to initiate yourself with the country, the culture and the necessary paperwork, to do it yourself the next time, and you can begin to meet and make friends there too who will help you with arrangements another time.
So there are for's and against's, judge whats best for you :o)
I prefer (but I speak with many trips experience under my belt) to wing it and do my own arrangements, I have been absolutely fine so far, but I don't have a problem with dropping myself into another country and adapting as I go, of course I realise my way is not everyones cup of tea, as I said, go with the way you feel most comfortable.
depends what country you are from. otherwise it is not difficult. if you are in usa you can get visa directly from the embassy, or using one of the eservice company. our partner is
russia-visa.com. they are located in DC, and provide very quality service. they will take care of all paper work.
Tim:
I agree that the type of sight that 'I' prefer seeing, generally propels itself (quite nicely) on two legs.
But, as you bring up, if I was already writing to a few women from some particular city and just starting this (yeah, as if I was actually that organized when I first started this :) ) I would have thought it a great idea to take an organized tour to that city of the nonromantic variety.
Of course, it would be less expensive than a "Romance Tour" with its Socials (but I still say you gotta love those Socials!) and better than winging it if you've never been to the FSU. (And to those of you who think you are pro-travelers because you have been to Western Europe - you have no idea of the differences.)
Just don't get anyhting with obligatory sight-seeing busses and cracklying speakered tour guides. You want something that brings you in and sets you down, and gives you time to spend with your ladies.
Not Uzbekistan for certain, and Im unsure about the rest.
Better check this with a good source, Im afraid Im outta touch with that side of it from so many visits to Uzbekistan these past 14 months I havnt been anywhere else in the FSU for a while.
But sa far as I know there is a BIG problem with Uzbekistan joining the EU, something to do with the EU not liking the current leader I beieve.
Well, can't say that I am a fan of the Eu, but I suppose there are some advantages in being a member, this is one of the few, although I think there would still be travel to any Eu country, even if we weren't stupid enough to be a member.
