Certainly, if gun control was in place, the shooter would not have had an easy access to the guns. Yet, gun control opponents say there would be more criminals, unarmed citizens would give more confidence and success to criminals. It is not easy to do research now. The search engines are full of news and bias on one way or the other. I did somewhat of a research awhile back that backed up gun control opponents. I just saw a crime graph of Washington DC of crime going up since they banned guns there in the mid 70's. The Supreme Court ruled that law unconstitutional. There is the gun control's main opponent: the constitution. Certainly our forefathers had experience in gun control. Because government that they fought and they were the criminals as far as the government is concerned, it must have been a society where only the government officials had guns. Though it is still a school attack, and each life is precious, the Beslan attack was much bigger. There were 26 in Connecticut and 380 in Beslan. But these people are so disturbed that taking away the guns would mean they would find another way of harming people. Even when these individuals are identified earlier in their lives, they can't lock them up indefinitely unless they commit a crime and probably can't cure them either. The Psychology and Psychiatry fields are notorious for their over optimistic claims of curing and controlling disturbed people. Life in the 21st Century. I can buy a gun in Ukraine with no problem. I dont need to, I already have one. Helps to have UA passport and follow rules. Doesnt matter where, people will always find a way to kill.
