Hello to all! Not sure where to put this info or if it was worthy of a new topic post. I found a site online that maybe of help to some here wanting to translate russian letter's to english or vise versa. I forgot to mention that the site also has a program to add to your aol messenger(may work for msn messenger too)called instant multilingual messaging that will translate in real time as you chat with your lady friend. It does cost a little for that service but for $3.50 a month that sounds very cheap. Although i have not tried it (still trying to find a lady) it maybe the key to a instant chat conversation with your lady through messenger to get to know her. At least it maybe one way to set a metting date and time to chat with her for the first time without worring about a large translation fee ( that is if the pc she is on has messenger). Another one I found. It even has a back translator to see how messed up your words become. For some reason, "my dearest" becomes "my road". http://freetranslation.imtranslator.net/ Has anyone actually used an internet messanger to talk to a Russian? I was wondering what internet services were availiable to them.

I use MSN Messenger to speak to my girl in Ukraine every Sunday morning. She has her own computer and has a Cable Internet connection. We are able to use video but the sound is broken up when I speak. So we use text but are able to see each other. Her English is probably a level 6. Bill

Wow, Cable internet in her home? I did not think they could afford such over there. My friend is just now thinking about getting phone service in her flat. I was afraid it would be a big expense for her.

I checked the site briefly. It seems to translate quite well INTO Russian, but into English it's too literal. As in: "For me was wanting so that presents gifted friends to him." Ah, crystal clear. I think if you keep your sentences as straightforward and idiom-free as possible, the Russian translation will be understood. But be prepared for some head-scratchers as you try to decipher the translated Russian. to Pumkindrvr1 re: road/my dear...The words are virtually the same in Russian, hence the confusion. In fact, the short-form female version of the adjective, "Dear" is spelled the same (though pronounced differently) as the word "road". Mark

I pay for that pumkindrvr1. We have started the K-1 visa process now. when I visited her we decided it would be in both of our interest to hook up to the cable. She could not afford it on her own, it would take 60% of her monthly income to pay for it. It made me a hero with her 16 year old son...now he can play online games with his friends :-)). Bill
