I have not had the courage or strength to come and post on here after being completely embarrassed by a scam. The said girl that I had been communicating with turned out to be a professional criminal and she wasn't in it alone. The girl’s name was Tatyana Chernova So I thought if this person was in need of money I’ll send her a reasonably priced bracelet (thinking she would sell it first chance) so I sent it in a parcel and the item was received and she wore it with pride and joy, I thought she would sell it immediately and looked at her wrist every time I could but she had it on every time. This drew me into a false sense of security and I started to dismiss each of my fears gradually. So I asked her about why she could not Skype from her place more regularly and between a numbers of excuses she eventually said that she could not afford an internet connection. Alarm bells started ringing and so I continually started to ask her if she wanted me to pay for one, (thinking she would pounce on the idea) to which she replied on a number of occasions no because she did not feel comfortable in me paying for her things. This again made me drop my guard, so we carry on skyping and video chatting via fiance.com and eventually she says that she does not want to use Fiance.com to chat anymore as it was too late and that she was tired all of the time and that she wanted to use more Skype. I thought ok here we go here this is where the begging will begin. But she said that she wanted to end the communication with me so because I was already hooked on her by now I was gutted. So I offered to get her an internet connection she again said no. So I heard nothing from her for about five days and then I get an email saying how she made a mistake and that she wanted to start skyping and that she had managed to get an internet connection. I was a bit hesitant at first but eventually I succumbed to the idea that I could afford a cheap laptop for her and at worst I would be out of pocket by a few hundred pounds. So I offered her the laptop and she starts saying no I want to try and afford one myself. So I said no I insist and within a week she says would it be ok if I bought her the laptop and that she would pay me back, I foolishly sent her the money, about £300.... We started communicating regularly, every day in fact for about six weeks. I looked around the so called apartment that she was in when we were communicating and there was flat screen TV in the background with different TV shows on a sofa and a table, I even contacted her early on Weekends where it appeared she had just woken up, evenings and late at night to see if she was sleeping there. She was never contactable during the working weekday but she was contactable during the weekend during the day. She was always paying me compliments about how kind I was a how other men she had known were not like this and blah blah blah One week I don't hear from her for about four days so naturally I'm freaking out here thinking the worst and then I receive an email from her saying that her modem has broken and if I could buy her a new one...so I ask her how much it would cost and she says about £30. Having spent the money on the laptop what's another £30 I thought...so I sent the money again We started communicating again and we start talking about my proposed visit to her place and everything seemed to be ticking along nicely. Until I said that I had a surprise for her and that I had booked tickets and a hotel to visit her (which I had). She started freaking out saying the language would be a barrier and that it would have been better if I waited until it was warmer. I could understand her saying things about the language being an issue but the weather thing was concerning me. So I started getting really suspicious about things she was saying and started making mental notes of them. Then I asked her to show me around her place using the laptop webcam and she was very reluctant, I asked her why and she said she was embarrassed by the size of the apartment and that it was nothing compared "western" houses. I eventually got her to show me around and remembered that she said that her apartment had only one room but when she was walking down what seemed like a corridor I could see lots of doorways either side with lights on. That is when I realised this was all one big con. I was not a happy person as you can imagine so I pretended to be playing cool and confronted her about some of the things she had lied to me about....she denied ever saying them even though I had purposefully made notes of them. I then pretended I was an undercover cop and I was in a building in the next block to her apartment and that her and her gang had been busted she went into a state of panic and I could see that she was talking to someone whilst trying to conceal it from me and all of a sudden the connection dropped out. In total I worked out that the money I had spent between the communicating via fiancé.com, bracelet, laptop, flights and accommodation it had cost me close to £2000. I was distraught especially as I had fallen for her and believed her to be genuine. This is blatant fraud and I do not know why something more is not done to prevent this from happening to others. *****There probably are many genuine girls out there in the Far East but I am not going to take the risk again****** sunvolt Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 3/26/2013 9:21:02 PM   Holyman, Almost all people on this forum are going to bust your balls for sending money to a person you never met but i am not.Like all of us ,you are paying fir what you hope is an honest service rendered and it is not. She went about ripping you off after she won your trust in a very slow cunning way. It happens and you hopefully have learned somewhat. Its only money but it hurts more when your heart is involved. I feel your pain though.Ukrainian women thru agency or private e-mail are a very cunning and black hearted people tainted by communism which we seem to forget.All we see is their beauty and are blind to their theiving ways .Not you Moya .These women have nothing but their good looks ,beautiful shoes ,the newest cellphone and that is it. They go to the internet to make extra money and trinkets because they are told that this can be done to lonely men from other countries who are believers bought on this propoganda that beautiful eastern european women are lonely and make good wives and the men in their countries treat then like shit.The people who conjured up this concept of agencys for marriage are corrupt geniuses who constantly are thinking of ways to make money. All Russians do and think like this. Nothing you did to advance your relations were unfounded except that you placed the cart ahead of the horse. You probably would have more material loss courting a woman in your own city with the same amount of contact. As a man, you have absolutely no obligation to a woman before you become intimate. Did you report her to the website?? A couple of things that I spotted in your story,,,,,, isn’t a modem only for dial-up internet?? I know they have USB modem adaptors for computers that didn’t come with one,,, but aren’t all other modems internal?? And,,, some apartment buildings over there are still “hostel” style,, with the bathroom at the end of the hall. I remember several girls telling me about them,,,, one bathroom for everyone on that floor,,, co-ed?!! And I have learned the hard way that DSL modems tend to fail, apparently they run at high internal temperatures. And I agree, if she were in a communal apartment, it would surely have looked very different from what Holyk saw, with practically all of the doors closed. @Holykimura: I see from the bottom of your post that you've decided to give up on this crazy venture. It takes guts to tell the story of something that is so painful, and the same time embarrassing. I'm glad you did it, because your experience may be useful to other men. I know what it's like to have high hopes, only to discover that I was a target of a cynical operator ... and there are certainly other men here who have experienced this one way or another. It rubs salt in the wound, to think of the good money that is gone. But I know stories of guys who lost a whole lot more money, it could have been worse. I gather that it's too late now, but I would have seriously considered using the reservations anyway, and at least getting a trip and a chance to explore a new part of the world! Sorry to tell you that most people would spend $100k to find a real partner, one that doesnt file fore divorce the moment she gets permanent residency. If 2k is a big deal to you then you were never in the hunt. There is a learning curve. you found out what scamming is quite cheaply. Its expensive to take holidays, go visit and then get the cold shoulder. All this emailing, letter writing and skyping is pretty useless against a real trip and real trips cost serious money, time and effort even after working out how to save on apartment rents, taxis etc. I was very lucky to meet my wife on my second trip. We got married on about my 19th trip. We are shortly coming up to our 5th wedding anniversary. She is the one who breaks all the rules that the failures here set. There really isn't much cost after the flight if you have a few contacts.I go for a week or two and normally only spend around 1000 dollars after I arrive. We normally shop at the local bazaar for gifts and use local transportation unless its raining. We only spend a day or two in Kyiv. I'm lucky to live within a couple of hours driving time to the New York airports -- otherwise, I surely wouldn't have visited so many times. For me, Kyiv is relatively convenient. Occasionally I go non-stop by Aerosvit -- nice and quick. Other times, I have a 1- to 3-hour layover somewhere in western Europe, so usually not more than 13 hours or so from JFK to KBP. The shortest flights I’ve seen are 15.5 hours,, but they have dangerously short layovers,,, 30 to 45 mins. The shortest flight I have taken is 17 hours on my way over,,,, and 24 plus for the return flight. For some reason, the return flights have much longer layovers,, not the right combination of flights I guess? I’ve paid from 975 up to 1,200usd. Years ago,, (1999) Aeroplot had the Chicago to Moscow flight 2 or 3 times a week, for only 670usd. One of the American carriers now operates that flight. Durak,, I priced the JFK to KBP once,,, thru Aerosvit or Ukraine Air, the cost was 2,500usd. Danny,,, what was the cost of that train from Australia to Moscow??? Did you take any pictures??? So any flight to kyiv starts there.They all go from there to newwark or jfk or chicago then to frankfurt then to KBP. I have never seen a flight while searching that is direct to KBP from new york or from anywhere from the states lately .A few years ago i saw Ukrainian International Airlines or Aerosvit had a dedicated flight from new York to KBP and that is the last time i ever saw it.I can get there in 16 to 18 hours the least. You consistently only get 1 hour 15 minutes to change gates by foot at Franffurt with 2 security checks plus walk to 2 miles to do it.That airport is huge to walk with very long lines. I always make it by the skin of my teeth.Coming back the connection at frankfurt time is even less consistently by 20 minutes,the Lufthansa plane was late and had to spend the night there. Aerosvit was fine for me, but actually had a poor reputation with Ukrainians. Isn't here anything out of Philly or DC? I know US Airlines and Austrian fly out of those to Vienna. @ Durak.....pity about Aerosvit, now there is no competition domestically. I did see recently flights from KBP-Ods for $85 but now well over $100, even some days closer to $200. If I knew my flying days, I could have got a rt for $141, now well gone. Need to book closer to 1 month ahead for better deals. I even lost my KBP-KIV flights and have to use AirMoldova.
