It is known as a vacation destination for both American and foreign tourists. As of the 2010 census, the population was 244,769, making St. Petersburg the fourth most populous city in the state of Florida and the largest city in Florida that is not a county seat. Although the city of Clearwater is the county seat of Pinellas County, all county services are available through county offices in St. Petersburg. The Gandy Bridge, conceived by George Gandy and opened in 1924, was the first causeway to be built across Tampa Bay, connecting St. Petersburg and Tampa cities without a circuitous 43-mile (69 km) trip around the bay through Oldsmar. With a purported average of some 360 days of sunshine each year, it is nicknamed "The Sunshine City". For that reason, the city has long been a popular retirement destination, especially for those in the United States from colder Northern climates. I didn’t see a damn thing to attract someone to St. Pete. They talked about the myth of Russian women being so much taller and blond,, most of the blond women in the videos weren’t true blonds. Half of the women I’ve dated were blonds,,, but not a single one was a true blond. Kids come there from all over the former Soviet Union, to get their degrees. So for most of the year, there is a substantial population of around-20-year-olds. Perhaps they make up some of the customers of those clubs. I've never been to such a club personally (in any country), such places have no interest for me. Seeing how many more boys than girls in the video clips, and the absence of real grownups, I imagine the "vibe" to be a bit depressing. Like the high-school gym, only worse. When I saw the exterior shot of the Metro Club, I was a bit intrigued, because the setting looked so unfamiliar, though I know parts of the city quite well. It's a little south of the romantically named Bypass Canal, in a dreary heavily industrialized neighborhood. I've been within a couple of blocks, but didn't have any reason to wander in that direction.
