Ok so I have taken some advice from a couple of the guys here on this forum, and I have been trying to use Mamba.ru to talk to girls from Russia/Ukraine.
Allright, so I have been using the English version, and also a translator. If some girls talk in Russian, I can use google translator no worries - but on all of their profiles the stuff they write about themselves or what they are looking for is always in a language that no translator recognizes? I know it is Russian but it is not written in Russian.
I know this sounds confusing but here is an example, a girl will write on her profile:
krasivaya, intelligentnaya, bez problem ( v tom chisle zhilischnykh i material'nykh), poznakomlyus' s sootvetstvuyuschim muzhchinoj. Nischie, yuntsy, zhenatye, te, kto ne iz Moskvy pros'ba: ne pishite.
I cannot translate this? What do you guys think about this?
I would try the Russian version of the site, where (I would hope) their profile information is in Cyrillic. That will be much easier to translate, but machine translation usually includes some very bad mistakes!
If you want to soldier on with the Latin alphabet version, I know one way that is pretty laborious: go to translate.google.com, and set it up to translate from Russian to English. In the left-hand box where the Russian is supposed to go, in the lower-left corner there will be a control that either gives you an on-page keyboard for typing Cyrillic, or what looks like "Py" for phonetic typing of Russian in the Roman alphabet: select the phonetic option.
Now, paste in the text you want to translate. Just to the right of each word (after the last letter), click to position the cursor there, and then Enter on your keyboard. Google translate will do its best to find the Russian word that matches the Latin letters (usually, it does well). As the words get transliterated, you'll see the English translations on the right.
In your example, she wrote "Beautiful, intelligent, without problems (include housing or economic), will get acquainted with a suitable man. I ask men who are needy, youngsters, married, or not from Moscow: don't write."
*Converting Russian that is written in Latin script - into Cyrillic script*
It is quite common to see Russian wording in profiles on Mamba written in Latin script, especially if the author now lives in Western Europe. No doubt there are many methods, but this way is fairly quick, and as already mentioned: on-line translators are usually inaccurate. (Although there are tricks to using them, and improving the translation.)
Go to translit.ru - and translate.google.com.
Paste your Russian Latin script into the translation box on translit.ru, and then click on the (sixth) small button above that says "BCE B PYCKÈÉ". Now copy the conversion into translate.google.com.
I don't think she is fussy or arrogant. She has no money problems and thus is not interested in foreigners/anyone else long distance. Makes sense to me. What did you expect? Every single Russian girl to be delighted to hear from Larry the cable guy?
