Of course they smile in private or at the dinner table,,, especially while toasting to something,,,, anything. Ukraine is slowly changing to more western ways,,, but Russia itself has not changed much,,, at least not in 2009 they didn’t. If you don’t want to be identified as a westerner on the street,,, don’t laugh, don’t smile,, don’t shout, and if something bad or unusual is happening,,,, don’t gawk!
