All of a sudden i have very bad connection issues from my home landline to ukraine for several days now.I use a cheap calling card company called Comfi.Never had problems for the past year. Now the call drops as soon as the callee picks up the phone or the sound of the phone ringing is forever listening from my end and no one answers. Anyone else experiencing this problem.I thought i was on a good roll for at least a year now but now it is like it was 10 years ago with much connectivity problems.
It could be Russia tampering with cell service?
During the Maiden protests a month ago,, I was surprised that Yanukovych/Putin didn’t disrupt cell/internet service in Kiev or for all of Ukraine. Ukrainians did an efficient job of getting info out of Kiev.
I've tried various ways of connecting overseas, and settled with Skype-to-phone (my computer to the foreign telephone). Of course, you need to put money into your Skype account to do so; easy enough if you have a Visa card.
Skype-to-phone is expensive for Ukraine (I think about 16 to 8 cents a minute, depending on the type of number you are calling, whether you buy a subscription, and if so the type of subscription). However, it has always worked really well for me.
Off the top of my head, I don't remember any time I've had a connection or call quality problem doing Skype-to-phone to Ukraine. Of course, the Ukrainian phone lines or mobile service can cause their own difficulties.
So, if you're willing to spend ten bucks an hour to talk with your girl, it's a solution that you can set up quickly and use easily. $10/hr is a hell of a lot cheaper than those awful video chat scams!
I have called Ukraine for years and the calls have usually been of poor sound quality. Calling a cell phone in Ukraine is particularly difficult. I seriously doubt the Russians are causing this. Even some Skype connections have been difficult.
I use Skype to call her cell phone at about 24 cents/minute. If it is not important I hang up before she answers and she opens Skype for free. Sometimes the internet carrier U-tel is a problem and I just pay the 24 cents. Her Skype is under my name and I put money on the account for her. She can call my cell phone for 2 cents a minute. U-tel has had sporadic service problems for about 2 years. Before that it was good coverage throughout the country.
Well,
I finally set up an account with Skype to call from Skype to my two friends`s mobile phones in Ukraine. The phones are ringing loud and clear and no one is answering.
A line from an American folk song. I think Moyarishka is correct. Your lady friend is likely gone or as has happened to many of us,,, never existed. If we are wrong,,, the lady can make an effort to contact you from an Internet Café. If her phone went dead, disconnected or had no money on it, it would be answered by the operating company recording stating the phone number is out of service.
