I know that there has been a lot of talk about rogue agencies here, especially about scam activity, however there are other annoying things that even the respectable agencies do.
I seldom name and shame but this one is about A Pretty Woman. Quite a while ago, when I was considering looking for an FSU wife, I visited their site and I put several bookmarks on ladies I liked. I was going to join the site, later on, and contact the ladies. However, I decided to join another dating site and left it. Today I came across my old bookmarks and started clicking on some of the girls out of curiousity. Their profiles were still there. Then I clicked on all of them and almost all of them were still there! The worst thing about this agency is that they do not even give a date when the girl was in the site the last time and if they did I would probably not believe it. So men can spend all the money the agency charges to contact the girls only to find out that most of them have gone away. I cannot believe that it can take so long such beautiful girls to find a partner or that they would not give up after months of trying. I bet most of them are already married to an FSU or foreign man and long gone. God knows how long, BEFORE I looked at their profiles, these girls had been in the site.
Another one is about my own agency. They constantly remove ladies whether because they were scammers or they broke the rules of the site, like being rude to men. I asked the site several times to give me information about girls they removed and they always replied with the standard reply that due to confidentiality they could not tell me. Several times I established contact with girls outside the agency and, after that, they got removed from the site. When I asked the girls they usually told me that they had removed their profile themselves as they were disillusioned with the men in the site or because they already knew me. I asked the administrators to let me know exactly why the girls were removed, for instance, if she had been removed for being rude to a sex pest, that would not matter to me; if she had been removed for being a scammer, the agency should help me by telling me. Why do they owe confidentiality to scammers or badly behaved girls?
The agency just leaves you with the uncertainty that you may be dealing with a scammer.
As it turned out, one girl proved to me that she removed her profile herself and another showed me her conversations with a sex pest that led her to be very rude to him and then be removed from the site for breaking the terms of use.
If you think you can do it better WS you should open your own dating agency. To do what you're expecting to be done the agency would have to call each girl every day or week and ask, "Are you still available?"
It's actually each girl's responsibility to report to the dating agency if she has become unavailable or no longer wishes to participate. Some girls I've even asked about it, Why is your profile still on this site? Then answered that they forgot about it or they just don't care.
Guys do the same thing too. Register in a dating agency and their profiles remain up for years even though their status may have changed.
Don't be so tough on these agencies. Some of them are doing a good job.
Some sites will remove a woman who tried to give out her personal contact information in a letter, and not thru the proper/costly procedures.
The websites and agencies will penalize a woman that is honestly looking for a mate.
"Some sites will remove a woman who tried to give out her personal contact information in a letter, and not thru the proper/costly procedures."
Some of you think that agencies should work for free.
When you take a flight should the airline give you your airline ticket for free?
When you go to a restaurant should you get your meal and drinks included for free?
When you stay in a hotel should the hotel offer your hotel room for free?
How in the world are these (legitimate) agencies supposed to operate if they are giving away their services for free?
If obtaining a contact's contact information is costly for you perhaps you should not be looking at finding a foreign partner. It costs thousands (of whatever currency) for you to travel to visit her in her country as well as thousands more should you decide to undergo the sponsorship process.
Agencies are in business, whether we like it or not, to turn a profit. They do not operate for free. So you trying to circumvent their proper contact procedures so you can obtain contact information is just plain cheap.
Many of the genuine agencies charge good money abd they should do the minimum to protect the men who use them. Women normally do not pay.
On my dating site I do not pay for every girl I have contacted and it has a record of when they were last online. A dating site that charges you for contacting each girl, who is not 'in the market' anylonger, and you do not know it, is making a profut by deception
TomZ,,,,, for your sake,,, I hope that you have been drinking and using illegal meds simultaneously or something??? If not,,,, what continent do you come from????
Legitimate agency???? Never found one,,,, have you?? If yes,,, how long have you and your fiancée been engaged??? Perhaps you are married already,,,, and for how long??
Any person that defends agencies, must have a flashing neon sign on them saying: “Gullible Fool! Believes Anything,,, Charge Extra!!”
If a plane never leaves the tarmac,,, I want my money back!
If a restaurant never bring the food, or if it’s not what I ordered or it’s cold,,,, they won’t get paid!
If the toilet in the hotel room is over flowing and there is a big hole in the wall,,, I’ll want my money back too!!!!!
How big of a tip would you leave for these places?????
Fiance.com - that's a legitimate one. You know the one that you post your forum entries on LR. The other guy said he met his wife here.
I'm in a relationship now with a girl from Ukraine through a legitimate agency.
I'm convinced that the guys who are saying there are no legitimate agencies are the ones who are not successful. The ones who don't get what they want. The problem is with you LR - not the agency.
You have to search inside yourself and ask why you're not successful with women in general.
Even if they write on their site "Fiancé.com is not a marriage agency."
Now they may not consider themselves a traditional marriage agency but if you're introducing people on a commercial basis you ARE an agency. If not for the purpose of marriage then dating. A dating agency.
Fiance.com is an internet dating agency.
An "agency" does not have to have a walk in office to be considered an "Agency"
Glad to educate you a little here.
What they are trying to do by saying "Fiancé.com is not a marriage agency." I guess is distinguish themselves from traditional walk in "marriage agencies" which existed even in Soviet times.
TomZ,,,, you must be one of those Extra Special kind of guy?!!
I knew that Fiance.com wasn’t an agency,,, but for a brief moment I questioned it. I thought,,, perhaps because they let women use the site,,,, (website) without an agency,,, that maybe it could be considered an “online-agency”??? Buzzzzz,,,, nope! The site,,, (website) “Russian Cupid” has 100% of their women on the site,,, (website) using their own computer,,, or a friend’s or internet café’s computer.
The terminology of this forum separates website from agency too. Everyone,, but you, knows the difference between the two.
But since you’re “Extra Special“ ,,, maybe you should contact both sites,,, (websites) and let them know that they are agencies?! I’m sure they would want to know this!
“Fiancé.com is not a marriage agency.
Fiancé.com is designed for men. We help them promote themselves via our online men’s catalog and also make it possible for them to find and contact women seriously interested in correspondence and romance. “
“Russian Marriage Agency
RussianCupid.com is the perfect site to connect with your dream Russian marriage partner. """"We are not a Russian marriage agency,"""" but a specialized dating site that provides you with better tools for a chance to connect with thousands of beautiful Russian women looking for marriage and serious relationships. Sign up for free now and find your dream Russian marriage partner today.”
Notice how both sites,,,, (websites) want to be very clear,,, that they ARE NOT marriage agencies?!!! WHY IS THAT????
Notice the word marriage. They are saying they are not a *marriage* agency.
Agencies have moved away from marriage because very few of them actually happen. It's more profitable to be a dating agency - arrange date after date after date without end. If a guy gets married he will no longer use their service. So it's more profitable to be a dating agency.
Marriage agencies existed in the time of the Soviet Union. People were given state jobs and they were given partners by the state. If you did not have a wife you simply needed to go to the State marriage agency and choose from among photos who you thought you were interested in. The marriage agency would arrange a meeting and in most cases the meeting resulted in marriage.
So let's define it - a marriage agency is an agency for the purpose of marriage.
A dating agency is an agency for dating which sometimes leads to marriage.
Is that what you want to say?
What is the big Fn difference?
You want to say that a marriage agency is an agency which has offices that you walk into and has no website?
What if a marriage agency has both? What if they have a walk in office and a website? Which are they? A marriage agency or a website?
How difficult or expensive will be for an agency to write ONE email and copy it to all (men and women) in the site asking for an update on their search?
Question: are you still looking for a mate through our website?
Yes
No

TomZ:
“Oh so there are legitimate "websites" but no legitimate "dating agencies"?”
I didn’t say that, I didn’t say that at all! I think most websites are alike,,, some are just greedier than others. This site will save you money if you write a lot and have the VIP membership. But websites are using the local agencies,,,, and agencies can work with many websites.
I used this website for two years, but only had serious correspondence in one city,,,, mostly one girl. One city is not a good test, but the heinousness of the lie told stopped me in my tracks. I didn’t report it, so I can’t expect anything to be done about it.
I think all of the websites I know of could be considered legitimate,,,, so maybe “reputable” would be a better word to use?
During 2008, I wrote to many girls in the spring, summer and winter hoping to meet all of them Jan of 2009. One girl left the site when I was away on a hunting trip,,, I figured she was upset about my absence,,, no goodbye, no nothing. After my trip in Jan,,,, I had more questions than when I started, and most were: WTF? One of the girls I met had been removed from the website and agency,,, but I found her on another site,,, and,,, the girl who had left in the fall. I found them both on AOB. The girl I refer to as the “date from hell” didn’t know anything about what had happened on our date,,,,, so I quickly stopped writing. The other girl picked up where we had left off. I had wrote a lot of letters to her on both sites,,, about 18 months out of 24. As the time of my next trip approached,,,, I sent the girl flowers with my personal info on the card! She never got my contact info. I wrote to AOB about it, and their reply was: The exchange of personal information is not permitted. I wrote them again saying; I sent her my info with flowers,,,, not in a personal letter. They again said that the exchange of info is not permitted!! I’m good and pissed now,,,,, and I wrote them; What good does it do to use your services if you can never contact or meet the other person??? If I remember right,, they apologized ,,, I then said; I’m done,,, if we can’t ever meet,, what good does it do to keep writing??? They eventually gave me the name and number of the local agency.
It was as if,,, I was the first guy to fly over and make the trip! They had no process or procedure for introductions!!!! A website full of useless profiles for the purpose of making money and nothing else! They have since changed their system and now allow the exchange of info after sending and receiving 5 letters each way. A far cry from infinity!
So don’t be so worried that the websites and agencies aren’t getting their fair share,,, they are getting far more than they deserve!
WS - agencies don't do this for several reasons. Even though some women are still looking, when given the opportunity to remove their profile from a website they do it as they are not comfortable with their profile and pictures "out there". Some women become available, then unavailable, available, unavailable again. In a relationship, breakup with their boyfriend. It's easier just to leave the profile up instead of removing it then putting it back in each time. Some are in a relationship but still looking. They are not happy with their current partner and keeping their eyes open if someone else comes along. Also some agencies have thousands of members in their database. If they send out a mass email as you're suggesting it's easy for them to become blacklisted as a spammer. Once you are blacklisted as a spammer it becomes difficult to communicate even with legitimate correspondence.
I think the agencies take the approach of leave well enough alone. If she contacts us to remove her profile then we'll do it but we're not going to actively go out and seek whether they want to remove their profile or not.
TomZ,,, I don’t know if your noticed, but my last post was not a reply to your’s,,, it hadn’t appeared yet.
Yes, I know the difference between “Marriage” and “Dating” agencies,,, I’ve been saying the same thing for years! You go to her city to meet, and she shows up!! Congratulations, you’ve just been on a date?!! The website and agency are a success! It doesn’t matter if it was a good date,, the girl showed up and the rest is up to you.
I hope some of the other forum members noticed what you wrote?!
“Agencies have moved away from marriage because “”very few”” of them actually happen.”
When I say that,,, people call me negative?! I guess 1% gives everyone some positive hope?
“What if a marriage agency has both? What if they have a walk in office and a website? Which are they? A marriage agency or a website? “
A good question. I have been “IN” an agency that had not one, but two websites! And I’m still firm on my position! It was an agency that also had websites. The “One Wife” and “BeHappy2Day” sites in Tver’ Russia. A shack of a building, but rather nice inside,,, 10 to 12 people and computers working over time to fabricate or translate (I didn’t peek over their shoulders) letters by hand.
I have also been in an agency, that consisted of; 1 desk, 1 table, 1 PC, 3 chairs and 1 coat rack,,,,, period! And this is/was an established, and rather well known agency!
Most of the websites that we all use,,, only consist on or of computer use. No walk in office, and no people in the field. If you arrange a personal tour of one or more cites,,,, no one will fly or travel to your location,,, they will rely on the local agency to furnish you with interp, taxi,,,,, and probably a flat.
Most websites are very impersonal and don’t get involved in the daily affairs, while the agency women tend to be overworked trying to keep up with letters and keeping the girls in line!
What difference does it make,, not much,, but it’s good to know who you are dealing with when things aren’t going right. On most sites,,,, but not fiance, if you have trouble with letter delivery or translation,,, it’s not the website, but the overworked translators frigging up.
I like to know the people I’m swearing at!! lol
Back in 2009 or 2010, I was told by a local that there were 8 agencies in Nikolayev. Last year, a local on this forum claimed that there were over 200!!
Would that happen if there wasn’t a lot of money to be made??
WIFESEEKER, how long you've been trying to find a wife?
I've found a russian women's forum, it's like this forum only with FSU women who're trying to find a foreign man. There're no scamers, there are just real women, some of them have been looking for a foreign husband for more than 10 years and they are still single. Do you think every man they meet on a dating site is a prince Charming and they should marry him ASAP?
There are a lot of men that search for FSU wife for more then 10 years, why do you think that all FSU girls should found a husband in couple of months?
