Musicman: "Idiotdetector" started this thread to inquire about going to Moldova from Ukraine (read the first post). That was why we were discussing the potential problems.
I am flying into Moldova myself at the end of April, to visit a couple of lovelies. My flight has me connected through Amsterdam on a large Airbus via Air Moldova.
And remember on any given flight - its entirely possible that no two people paid exactly the same fair. There can be quite a range as well. GO for the best price - but remember to read the fine print (restrictions and condition).
It almost certain that just about everyone these days pays different rates, Jet is absolutely spot on, search around, and remember, the Net is Not always the cheapest, they seem to have cottoned on to the fact that people look here first and forget to check with live travel co`s, so they have slowly put some of the prices back up where they used to be !!!
I was more worried about Visas and such. More to the point, dangers. My lovely has now replied and I think things are going well, she speaks fair english as she sometimes woeks as an interpetor which is good but it is hard to go to a place with no language and no idea. Flights are easy in the scheme of thing. Where are you staying jet and who helped with the arrangements. I would not trust these girls to help me, for all I know she just a picture in a magazine. When I went to russia before, it was all arranged. Not a romance tour as such but accommodation for $35 US a day and travel to and from airport etc. Are you winging it or do you have a safty net and training wheels and shit?
Actually Tim, if idiotdetector is an American (from my understanding) he need not neccessarily stay in a hotel in Moldova. And as of very recently - Americans no longer need invitations for visas (I know they used to - and often the hotel would provide that). Don't have the specific dates of the change with me right now - but I can get them.
As for me - a horrible problem has come up - regarding my ladies past. Seems I stumbled on something that had been swept under the rug. And there could be serious problems.
Yes I have other ladies now in Moldova clicked recently and I have fallen head over heels for this one. And now a huge problem. (Can't discuss it here - sorry.)
Idiotdetector (ID) - still must register with the local police within three days or face a heavy fine. Hotels tend to do that for you - but if you stay in a flat you must do it for yourself.
Off to bed in afew minutes, my official invitation from Natahsa arrived this morning "from Russia with love" ;o)))
So at 6am Im off to London to get my visa :o))
Of course there are differences between UK and US when it comes to visiting some parts of the FSU Jet,
I'm afraid I forget that sometimes, for which you will need to forgive me :o)
I never had an invite to Uzbekistan after the first visit, though I was supposed to have one !! I got on really well with the embassy staff in London, and I just put, "going to visit my fiance" (which she was by then) and they accepted it with a smile, and gave me 3 month long multi entry visa`s 3 times that way :o))
Right, time for bed, well actually Tim for bed :o)
Got an early start in the morning !!!
Night all :o))
Moldova, second week of July is my plan, to visit lovely Lucy!
She is great, pretty, petite, down to earth (no formal studio photos), intelligent - loves to giggle- mature (30 yrs old) still younger then me by more than a decade. She's good at speaking English.
She has been helpful in arrangements and I do trust her! Told me that I can get a visa at Chisinau airport when I arrive (I confirmed this at the Moldolva Embassy web site). As far as a place to stay here are her exact words: "Don't worry about living space... You will decide while being here where you prefer to stay. If you like the place I stay, then you can stay with me, otherwise you can rent an apartment or live in my sister's house...".
Stay at her place? But I am still a virgin! (not really sure how I ended up with my kids though!)
Guys, any thoughts on her offer? She is absolutely the real deal and no scammer.
I have one in Ukraine that I trust now as she has givin me some personal details, but it is difficult before that happens. I know about Visas to Russia and I have said before, I am Australian. Maybe visas are the same for ukraine, now I do not know but I will find out. Ensata, stay with your girl but if this is your first meeting, formulate a backup plan and seek out some local agencies to fall back on. If everything goes pear shaped, no nead to waiste a trip. I hope things go well for you, I truly do but remember, you don't know her umtill you meet her so don't rely on her 100% the first time.
I would accept her offer and would prefer to do something similar maybe starting the relationship in the capital for a few days then getting back to some kind of "normality" to see how life really is but with a backup plan in the worst case scenario.
