When you say "FSU" it seems you often mean Ukraina or Russia.
For me, in Sweden, living 60 miles from a port with ferries to Baltic countries, I usually think more about Estonia, Latvia and so on when we talk about "FSU".
In this forum however it seems that men are mostly interested in Ukraina, even though problems are much bigger with language, Visa rules, and so on.
Just curious why you're so interested in Ukraina ?
To me it seems very "risky" to contact girls in countries that are in a crisis, as girls there
probably would say and do anything just to get away from there, or to make money.
Some people like me just prefer Ukrainian or Russian girls, they are famous for their beauty. Besides there are a lot more of them looking for a husband from the West. I have seldom seen women from the Baltic republics in dating sites. I actually like them but I do not have the chance to meet them, unless there is a dating site that specialises in women from those countries.
BTW there also a lot of women looking for a husband from Kazakhstan where there are also many good looking women. Then Belarus, Moldova and Romania.
As funny/strange as it sounds:
If you say "FSU" and ask me what it makes me think of - my first thought will not be the Baltics (Li/La/Es). They are SO different. I remember when we still had deep down Soviets in Ukraine, visiting Baltic "republics" was like going abroad.
Re countries in crisis. Here in the UK where I live nowadays, there are piles of folk from Li/La/Es coming over and trying to stay no matter what. I wonder why.
I am in the UK and have met many LI/LA/ES people. Most of them only want to work here for a few years, make some money and go back home to set up in business.
Yes, it is more riskier to associate with people living in poorer or unstable areas. But if you look at the opposite end of the spectrum, women in countries who are well off and happy have very little reason to date someone from outside their country (unless you were some kind of royalty or very famous foreign person). People who are more eager to make a change to their life offers a better opportunity as a potential mate for someone who is not in the upper echelons of society. Highly successful women are usually very choosy.
yes I have met a couple of 'oriental' absolute beauties from the East of Russia and Uzbekistan or Kirghistan. But you seldom see girls like these in the dating sites.
Selkie,
I did not say Romania is ex FSU (well it was a satellite), I am just mentioning other Eastern European country where women are looking for Western husbands.
I have never seen girls from Hungary, Czech Republic, Serbia, Bulgaria or other Eastern European countries in dating sites. There are some Polish ones but few.
MOST ladies form FSU countries are willing to RELOCATE to another country, in comparison with the ladies from Baltic's states. LT/ES/LV are EU and NATO member. They, like many other UE members, can easily travel to Western Europe, particularly to the UK and Deutschland for work or/and vacation according to the BBC (except the French, because they are French, BTW,,, been in Paris 2x awesome!). Many young Lithuanians know English, I had problem getting direction or talking to them.
I found western European ladies reluctant to move to the USA ( except for those way to young ). They wanted for me to stay in the UK, but I had said HELL NO! Germany may be…
According a Lietuva guy, ” the reason for so many beautiful girls here is that the Vikings stole all the pretty girls from the world and brought them to the Baltics.” LOL
It would be a great advantage to marry an Eastern European lady from an EU country as you would not need to go through the expensive ordeal to get them a fiance or marriage visa, but then they do not need you to get a visa....
In my travels I have met several women from Latvia. They seemed just as friendly and interested in Ukraine but they, on the whole, were no where near as attractive as Ukrainian women.
"I am in the UK and have met many LI/LA/ES people. Most of them only want to work here for a few years, make some money and go back home to set up in business.
Hm. Got me thinking. Maybe it is about gender, age, and family status of the people met/known.
I can easily admit that my Li/La/Es pool here (UK) consisted mostly of women, young-ish (up to 40), college/university educated, single or divorced. (Kids situation varied.)
The region of the UK also might matter.
Anyway, as I see there are many factors, and it depends.

Aha, got it now, re FSU vs Eastern Europe.
As for the EE representation on dating sites - yes they probably have no need to be there... I was on a few international sites, and when I did my research on the competition :-D - I did spot some Bulgaria, Romania and former Yugoslavia. Do not remember Hungary or Czech Rp, either.
When I was looking most websites were full of Russians and Ukrainians so it would have been hard to specify anything else. From the research I did I read most of the scams came from Ukraine so I decided to focus on Russia. I also thought rightly or wrongly that Russia was more developed that Belarus or Lithuania etc. It only took me a few months and now after 2 years dating the same girl I am happily married ;)
FSU dating exists because these third world country nationals want a passport/visa of a land of "milk and honey".
Nationals of countries already in the European Union, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania included, already have a "milk and honey" passport so they don't need a man to provide one for them.
I'm from UK, but I own a resort in Asia, and a few months ago I had some Lithuanian guests staying, they told me that 10% of the Lithuanian population are now residing in UK and as for Poland, I'd be surprised if there's anyone left in Poland soon!
I would not be surprised at all if you were a UKIP voter. Get your figures right. The immigration statistics show that many Polish and other Eastern European immigrants have been returning to their countries, starting at the recession time.
When there is not work, most go away.
10% of Lithuanians now live in the UK, yeah right.
But of course, what is probably your paper the Daily Express, only cites figures of people coming to the UK, not the ones going back to their countries.
"I would not be surprised at all if you were a UKIP voter"
A have NEVER voted in my life!
"But of course, what is probably your paper the Daily Express"
Yeah right, we get deliveries of the Daily Express here in the Pacific Ocean on this island where we don't even have landline telephones or radio broadcasts!
I was only repeating what some Lithuanian nationals had told me, what would I know, I have no television, no radio, no newspapers ... I consider myself fortunate if I have electricity!
