Hello all, and a big Hello to those in the UK. (Made a visit to London last september and my heart has become fond of your island.)
Here's my piece, if anyone responds let me thank you in advance. I joined Fiance.com three days ago, and even before I paid my dues, BEFORE I even uploaded a picture of myself (something I'm planning to do next week) I have already found myself to be receiving letters from a variety of women. Ages 23 to 32, blond, brunettes; tall and short etc... This raised some concerns with me, but I responded nonetheless to play the scenario out. Not enough time has passed to receive replies, but what is this about? I've read in other topics to beware women making initial contact, and I've read some warning about scams. What do you think about the letters?
Also, on a bit of a tangent, how do you send your mail with respect to language? Do you use the online translator? I did but I fear that it will misinterpret what I wrote. Since I do not speak or read the russian language I have no way to verify I'm cutting and pasting what I intend to communicate.
Tony: good to have you here, my friend! I myself am from USA. Where are you ? Dont worry about the ladies answering you so fast. It is for real, mate (just wait until you hear from Tim. Mate is his favorite word :-)) ) The ladies in FSU (former soviet union), are all looking for love and romance and are ready to forgive many idiosyncrasies of us western men. You will find many delightful ladies on this site. Best if you upgrade to vip as you will be able to email all of them for free. As for the language barrier, do not worry, the site will translate all of your emails to them (via the agency) IF the girls give you their private email, do not worry, most can read your letters in english, otherwise they probably wouldnt give you their private emails!! GOOD LUCK and have fun. A word of caution and advice. Most of us here always treat the ladies with respect and admiration. THis is not a dating site, rather be serious about your intentions with the ladies, and they will appreciate it. Also, you may want to check out elenasmodels.com and buy her online book about marrying a russian lady. IT gives excellent advice on how to write the proper letters. We western slobs can easily offend those lovelies over in FSU!
welcome aboard Tony, mate (lol). I joined in January and the first right choice I appear to have made is being with fiance.com. Most of the early letters end up being a waste of time. Take your time and hand pick those that take your fancy would be my advice.
The language/cyrillic letters is alien at first but I recommend an attempt to try and learn it - your lady (when you get one) will appreciate that.
If you wanna take it off our hands Tony, we would be glad to give you the bloody country mate !!! And all the no good, greedy grasping, two timing lazy bags of sh*t women that go with it of course !!! :o)) We can find a new country for the few decent women there are here (almost all of whom are spoken for !! the rest are single because no-one wants to put up with their sh*t !!))
Read as much of the forum posts as you can, the older stuff I mean, lots about scams, letters, how to be careful, where to go, what to watch out for both in letter writing and travelling to the FSU, etc etc in these pages ;o)
To Jeff :oP Mate !! ;o))
Good advice though Jeff :o))
Elena is also very helpful if you write to her :o)) She is a sweetie :o))
One point I will mention though, Don't assume that if a girl gives you her private email address that she can read and write English, it might be that she still uses an agency to translate for her, and within a few letters you Will hear from the agency asking if you would like to assist with the cost of this service. Don't assume right off that this is a scam !!! Someone has to pay for this service, and the girl you are writing too cannot afford to pay it all herself !! But she Will have been paying up to this point for all translations she has needed !! At least check the agency out, be sure they are as kosher as you can be and then give a little help to your lady, she will appreciate it and it isn't like it costs the earth. Ive paid about $100 a month so far, thats all my letters translated for my girl to read (and I write Big letters and at least one Every day) and all her replies to me too, and she writes me almost every day too (except Sundays when the agency don't open of course )
It really isn't a lot of money for us to pay, but realise that if your girl had to pay it, even if she is well paid by FSU standards, she wouldn't be able to eat that month !!
I'm with you Del` on your points too !!
Learn as much of the alphabet at least as you can, get Cyrillic fonts for your PC if you don't have them already, because occasionally you might get a word in a letter that hasn't worked through the translator software (if either of you use it rather than a live translator type person :o)) ) and you will need to be able to look up the word in a dictionary. If you don't have the fonts you will get stuff like **???!. .*/??// where words should be, because your PC cant assimilate it !!
Tim: True to form as usual :_)))) But you are right about the translation bit. I hadn't thought about that. A private email , you are correct, doesn't mean she can speak english(it is a pretty good bet, tho). Hell,I got my private email and I cant read or write english half the time!! Just look back at my old posts :-o (MATE!!)
Hey there, Thanks for the info, tips, tricks (ummm... poor choice of words) and hints. I really appreciate this msg board, especially being new and a little timid starting this game. I've heard horror stories, but like anything else risk cannot be calculated in its entirety. The way women are here in Toronto if I don't try this I might just end up dying alone. thank Gawd for the internet huh?
Jeff, I never join dating sites, and never intend to mistreat any woman. If reading some stories here about some experiences with FSU women made my blood curdle, there is no way I would want to contribute to someone else' discomfort. As far as I can see all these sites operate on a certain level of trust. I would never want to abuse that, at the least it would only personify the attitude of the Vulgar western Man I got so much of in Japan...
Tim, my European cousin, I adore your country and I would gladly take it off your hands, unfortunately I think the Queen would have something to say about it. I sleep well enough without the long winded speeches. :) I am Canadian by the way, I too spell colour with a 'U', unlike some other distant cousins. Honestly, I think it was the spirit of London and it's architechture that blew me away (This is someone who lived in Roma and Firenze, I know architecture). I love Picadilly, didn't care too much for the Anti-terrorism exercise at Oxford circle an hour before my best friend's wedding though. :) I agree with you on sharing the cost of translation, if I'm gonna take up her time and resources, I should contribute.
Btw, MATE isn't so bad. What annoys me is the way everything is BRILLIANT across the pond. Hehehe.
"Do you have your ticket sir?"
"Here you go"
"Ahh, brilliant."
Grrrrr.. It's a bloody ticket! Did wonders for my confidence though....
So when do we see some Cannuk in your posts Tony ? ;o)))
nothing you ever say could possibly annoy me as much as the phrase
"Whatever !!"
I have a very good friend in Calgary, been friends since 1999. First met face to face in 2000 in Amsterdam when she was visiting a guy she met who I knew too, and she spent 3 months here with me in 2002 for the whole summer, we had a great time, it changed her life, she met and married her husband 6 months ago, and still stays in touch now :o)) She was a bit uptight and boring when we first met, but I sent her back as a monster :o)) Calgary didn't know what hit it !! :o))
Oddly enough, She liked picadilly too !! Must be the pickles, or the tangy sauce I guess, Oh No !! Thats Piccalilli !! ;o))
Crash:
No-ones laughing mate (stop that Del` !! Its not funny !!!) but seriously, I have been hunting for my perfect lady for nearly 3 years, I had one, married her and lost her, and I'm back again, or I would likely have been here since summer too !!
Well I think thats about this thread finished adding to, brilliant :o))
I love Toronto and the women love the English, at least in my experience.
I couldn't go for lunch without being chatted up, couldn't have an evening meal without being chatted up and the Joker Nightclub story I will keep to myself, suffice to say that rumours hit the production crew the next day about a certain character who shall remain nameless. ;)
It's a great city that I plan to revisit in the future.
Just for Tim (I don't do this often, especially in front of an international audience), but this as canuck as it gets eh? Was shuvlin a little dust off the ole drive when I found a big ol packed scarboough suitcase which some buds left the other night when we gots back frum the ol dro-field. Cracked one open when sumtin freaking killed my chops. It was freakin Yankee beer eh. Nearly gagged on that firkin piss water. And dey's call that beer. I swears I will never drink from a case with horses on it. So my buddies came by, saw me coughing, started laughing and asked "You alright bud? You look like Clinton when he woke and saw where he stuck his cigar eh".
Been a while and the lingo a little rusty, but it never goes away.
DMA, don't get me wrong, I love my city. It is quite extraordinary the way it has matured in the last 10 years. We actually have something to do on weekends other than hang out at night clubs. Joker was fun when I was in University, but I swear I'll never hit another club. You had a good time 'cuz your accent drives women here crazy. No word of a lie, it's like the aural version of spanish fly... except your accent is real.
I am an Italian-Canadian. If you know how in 'demand' italian-canadian women are you would understand the difficulty in nailing one down for a relationship (no sexual pun intended). They are wanted and they know it. And OOOOOH boy do they love to show it, but like the big man said in Devil's Advocate, Look, but no touch. Russian women remind me of the women in the old country, very outgoing when they get comfortable with you, pleasure in the simplest of things and the like.
