Download them there, attach to letter and then delete right after that if you do not want anyone else see those. Our guys were promising to improve this feature of photo attachments so that one could attach any photos without downloading them on the site, but so far it was not done.Hopefully it will be dont this month( Im bugging them constantly about it!!!) dma Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 4/2/2004 5:53:02 AM   As far as I understood it the photo's are not actually ATTACHED as separate files to the sent letter, merely "URL Pointers" to the member's limited portfolio of images. In effect, deleting the image having sent it would still leave a "URL Pointer"...now pointing to NOTHING...as the integrity of the actual image data has been lost. Has this changed since I last tried it? I've given up trying to send photo's to individuals which has ben frustrating as the girl's contrast seem to have a limitless supply of imagery that is private. To add the correct functionality should take the developer no more than 1 Hour to implement. An alternative solution would be the ability to embed images with the body of the letter itself to external references hosted elsewhere using standard BB syntax [img="..."][/img], downloaded as part of the letter from the recipient. There are many ways to improve this functionality the simpliest of which could be a 15 minute development task! Uploading elsewhere and supplying the URL is a temporary bodge but ideally members could do with including "private" images within each letter so they're just there as I imagine that most girls aren't clued into copying and pasting web addresses? Also - my Moldovan lady and I happened to be in a part of Odessa that we probably shouldn't have been in. We were walking home late at night after going to a disco. Ahead of us she spotted two men wearing leather coats. She said to me "Look down when we pass these guys. And don't speak." I trusted her prety well by this time so I did exactly as she said. When we were a sufficient distance away I asked who those men were. i asked if they were possibly Russian mafia (we DID see Russian mafia later by the way - but they really are no major concern to tourists). She said "no". She said that they were police officers. "Police officers??" I asked. I told her that where I come from if you happen to end up in the wrong part of town and you spot two police officers - you feel BETTER. She said, "Not here." She told me that if they had heard me speaking English, especially American English (and yes Brits it does exist ;) ) they would have demanded to see my passport for identification and then expected a substantial bribe to return it. This is a serious fact guys, so please don't take it lightly !! If you are seen by the police or by unsavoury characters, holding hands after dark with a young Russian girl you can be almost certain that after you leave her life will have little peace at all !!! A huge percentage of FSU policemen are corrupt, and again I am not kidding !!! When I told friends in the FSU that if a policeman in the UK took just one dollar from anyone for any reason they would go to prison and lose their job, my friends were incredulous !! To them its an every day occurrence. When driving normal citizens will be stopped often and fined $1 or up to $5 just to be permitted to go about their business again, until they meet the next police patrol !!! Another point, even if you are out in a car or a cab with your girl, keep your eyes open for police patrols and stop checks, if you are draped over your girl and they stop you she is in deep sh*t !! Don't be offended if when nearing one of these road blocks, she shunts herself across the seat to be as far apart from you as the car seat will allow, its Not personal, but she has to live there after you leave !! It sucks I know, but it IS the truth !! It is a standing joke that Uzbek police men don't get paid a salary, they are given a uniform, a red light batton, a gun and a badge and told to go out and bribe their salary, personally I don't think thats far from the truth !!! And in Tashkent you cant bloody move for tripping over policemen !!!! There are hundreds of them and they are everywhere all the time !! Another story I heard is that on a crossroads in Ukraine sits a police car, every car that passes gets tugged in and a small fine levied, if you don't stop they don't chase you because they only get 2 gallons of petrol to last a month !!! After a few weeks have passed you had better think about stopping though, because by then they have amassed enough money to fill the tank !!! And they will chase a foreign car and levy a very large fine !! And last but probably not least. On entering an FSU countryborder a lorry driver friend of mine was stopped at shed number one, where a man with a metre marked pole measured his lorry and said "You are 6cm over height restriction 1 Packet of cigarettes fine, he moved on down the road and was stopped at shed number 2 again the measuring went on and he was 8cm over height !! Another fine of 1 pack cigarettes and $2, a little further down the same road he was stopped at a third shed (these sheds are about 100 metres apart by the way) and man number 3 asked, "did you stop at last 2 sheds?" "yes" said my friend, "OK, did you pay fines ?" Again my friend nodded. The man then measured the lorry again, this time he smiled and declared that the lorry was 2cm under, "On you go said the man, have a good trip" It transpires that the 3 men are brothers !! All 3 measuring sticks are Exactly the same length, but the markings on the first two are different from each other and stick 3 is in accurate metres !!!! Provided you play ball, and they get their "grift" you never have any hassle, if you wont stump up they call the police and customs and you will be there for days you may lose your load, or your lorry to customs and it will cost you Big Time !!! Anyone familiar with St. Petersburg please chime in on this one. My agency set me up in a 2 room apartment in the elite disrict (whatever that is!) They said I was in the same building as the local police dept. and I figured that was cool. They assured me its a good place to be, but now I dont know.. I'm gonna call my girl and ask her I think. She lives about 30 minutes away from where I am staying, and she is most likely going to be spending a LOT of time with me, so... Thoughts anyone?? Its us who is shocked at it all because for our police life is very different if they get caugyt taking money its a huge disgrace, for the FSU cops its how they earn their living, noone bats an eyelid, they just pay the "f*ck off money", so they will f*ck off and leave them alone !!!
