If he got a four wheeler at least he'd have something for his money instead of going home alone and broke every time. He mentioned that he had a court settlement. This is the only way he could ever afford to go to Ukraine. He couldn't afford to go to Ukraine or support one of these ladies on his current wages. Any trip to Ukraine for him would be an exercise in futility. That is why I suggested he get a four wheeler or something. Something to keep him occupied. And they're a lot of fun. You can see some pics of some nifty four wheelers on this site.
