I'm looking into either Apartment or Hotel accommodation in Moscow for the short term (<14 days) and I am struggling to find "decent" apartment rentals. The bulk of them seem to be more expensive than Hotels and inferior!
Has anyone got any suggested URLs?
I've tried using the search tool at fiance for previous threads but it returns garbage.
Del:
got a URL for you that is quite good.......somewhere amongst my papers, will find it for you and post ASAP.
PS it was on the PC until my hard drive disaster!!!!!
ty Steve. Hope all is going well with your preparations. :)
I seem to keep finding expensive * holes and the one's I quite like are asking rediculous prices where a Hotel seems to offer a better deal but I don't want a Hotel (ideally) - I want to try and "live" with her where the conveniance of a Hotel can spoil that.
I also don't mind jumping from one place to another after a few days and likely another city BUT would this cause problems with my Tourist Visa? I don't want to end up having rent two apartments to satisfy some paperwork.
The biggest drawback Del is that Moscow is soooooo expensive taking the hotel route and I am not surprised that the prices have made your eyes water.Apartments are definitely the way to go but bear in mind that even those are much more expensive than the lesser cities.
Regarding your visa.....have you gone the letter of invitation route??,or are you applying directly through the hotel using their services?
I can recommend you expat.ru - a very good site for foreigners who are in Moscow. You can find a lot of useful information there. The link for renting a flat is http://www.expat.ru/realestatelist.php. They indicate a price for one month, but anyway you can contact them and negotiate the possibility of staying only 2 weeks. I hope this will help!
lol. Thanks Ultra. I am reading now...& the prices look good straight away.
...although I am not sure if the sharing with another british girl and italian girl would go down well though with the very first listing I saw. LOL
LOL (to say the truth I didn’t read the information, I only provided you with the link I know).Well, 2 girls – not a bad company : 0)) it’s better than 3 fun-loving young guys (second offer) LOL
Anyway there are other offers on the page, maybe you will find something...
I'm going to ba staying in a nice 2 room flat in ST Pete for about 70 a night. I thought that price was ok for a big city. I wonder how that would compare with Moscow
crashnsplash,
You have found a very good variant, the price is very reasonable, I should say. The prices for flats in Moscow are much higher. I think you would have to pay the same price for 1 room flat in Moscow. However it depends on the place – for example flats in the centre and near the metro stations are more expensive than somewhere on the outskirts.
What’s more important, if the agency/person that helped you to find this flat will help you with registration or not. Do you know that the registration (residence permit) is obligatory? Otherwise when a policeman stops you to check documents and you don’t show him this document he will fine you.
dma, do you have any progress in your search for an apartment in Moscow?
Not much luck so far, the quality by comparison to some Hotels is quite poor and I've found a 4* Hotel that will be satisfactory for arrival and departure, likely renting an apartment in her home town instead which would be my preference anyway to see her home-town.
Having that mix I believe will be a better balance, the initial comfort and romance of a hotel followed by "living" together under more normal circumstances, leaving under nice surroundings as the trip started.
I am still open-minded at the moment but it's taking a lot of time trying to find something that is right. The cheek some of these landlords have asking extortionate prices for what I consider * holes.
Hi dma,
Yes, I agree that the prices in Moscow for good hotels/apartments are very high. Maybe you are right and it would be more reasonable to rent a flat in her home-town. Btw where she is from? I have found one more website http://www.enjoymoscow.com which offers apartments – maybe they are not cheap, though there are pictures available and at least you can be aware of what you are going to pay for. Comparing with the prices for 4* hotel it maybe even cheaper and at the same time it is better to stay in a private apartment than to be stuck in a hotel room.
Good luck, anyway.
I can't say that I am impressed by the prices of most of the apartments I've seen in Moscow for what you get, where to me a Hotel (the right one) gives better value for money.
Am I just being too stuck up?
I am not going to post her city here ;) other than I do have a contact there who can arrange accommodation bad sadly they are very slow, lacking sufficient detail and photographs, so i will likely have to rely upon my girl's instinct and recommendation initially and if it's pants, relocate when there.
None of these apartments in Moscow..."do it for me", so I think I am quite happy to settle for a Hotel and god knows what I am going to get in a smaller city! :-//
