If you do meet someone and want a rendezvous, must you have an apartment? Will security prevent her from visiting your hotel room? Can anyone speak from experience?
When I was in Ukraine (as is the case in most places of the world I guess)certain things were implied of course if you invited a woman to your room. The problem was, of course, after a date there was little else to do. There was a small hotel bar - with obvious hookers hanging out in it (they have an arangement with the hotel). Not completely surprisingly, the first woman I dated (a single time) declined my offer to come to my room at midnight.
The second woman I dated - needed a place to stay - we had spent the entire day together and I actually had paid for her room the night before - while I actually dated the FIRST woman (such is the nature of social). I offered her the other bed in my room (two twin beds permanently fixed to the walls) and she accepted.
For this I had to pay a surcharge of $30 on top of the $90 I was already paying for a room - at the WORST "4 STAR" hotel you can possibly imagine (dirty, no heat, no hot water sometimes, no electricity sometimes - don't get me started).
The room was the only really bad part of the "Romance Tour" I booked. Going over now on my own - I will only stay in an apartment or a mini(villa) hotel - with much better features and much better rates.
There were no "floor ladies" as you will commonly find in FSU hotels - these are women on each floor that you typically turn your key in to when you leave. There was "Security" however and a signed agreement that if a lady spent the evening with you - you would pay the extra amount. If you did not properly regiter her and pay - you would be "fined" $50. Some chose to risk it and got away with it.
According to my experience in Moscow 4 stars hotel there is security and they allow to have guests only till 11 p.m. If you want your guest to stay for the night you should register him/her. You can do it easily at the reception. They need only your passports for this procedure. You may not pay anything or you may pay only for the breakfast (~$20) for your guest (if he is going to have breakfast in hotel).
Anyway every hotel has its own rules and you can always find them out at the reception.
I appreciate your responses guys. My intent is not to plan to take a lady back to the room, but if you don't plan ahead, you limit your options.
The ladies I am corresponding with have children, so I am assuming their apartment will be out of the question.
