Thanks for the breakdown of costs as a starting point of discussion.
You probably need to differentiate between fixed and variable costs in order to appreciate a "daily cost".
For example:
Studio photos, scanning and related services are one off fixed costs that can be re-used multiple times in different correspondances. There is no need to consider these charges in appreciation of a mean daily charge.
In terms of basic communication, it's either internet costs or agency fees for their services (printing, translation, other - add as appropriate). So the figure quoted is surely much lower and in my experience, girls rarely write every day where the conveniance of a PC is no there or commitments with work or family restrict daily written contact.
Does anyone know the real cost of daily "normal" contact?
1) Writing a letter in Russian, having it translated by the Agency and sent?
2) Writing a letter in English, having it sent via an Agency?
3) Writing a letter in English, sending it yourself via the internet.
1 photo use 1 time for 1 men
all price - average prices internet-cafe
this pice not including translating and typing staff at Internet-cafe
translation made by the translator (person) - 5-10 $ per 1 page A4
Another question that quite often knocks me off my feet - don't you have any friends who speak English, honey? If I did, why would I refer to the professional translator in the first place? Do you personally know anyone who speaks Russian and is willing to waste his time translating for you back and forth? How about you dealing with the neutral person and someone you personally know who might take interest in your personal life?
How about automatic translators? When I hear that - I get angry. Did you ever use them yourself? They totally twist the meaning of the words!!! Not to mention sentences!
Try them out of interest - first into Russian, then BACK into English. Enjoy and don't laugh too loud.
When you start complaining about the cost of correspondence, I always want to say, "We are a poor country, but we have plenty of expensive cards driving around. And they are NOT sold at a special Ukrainian price, people who sell them couldn't care less about your citizenship and would be quite surprised if offered to reduce the price according to the income." Does it make sense?
Anonumous completely agree with you about electronic translators, they are really bad, or even worse then that. I know that for sure.
And I have already expressed my opinion about free translations to friends, there is nothing bad in that, but when they start abusing your time and knowledge, that's where the problems start.
TimH, you know that I also live in Ukraine, and there is nothing bad that a person expresses his own opinion, I guess you agree on that??? After all we're here discussing things:)
Ptichka:
My dear !!
I wasnt unhappy about Anon`s opinions, I agree with her, I was simply pointing out that I know where she is :o))

it's useless to discuss costs here... if you are writing to a girl who uses agency in Lugansk, that means that all letters are written by the agency :)
