My trip is getting closer and I need to start planning our day trips while in Kiev. I need to compile a list of the must sees in and around Kiev. The apartment is across the street from the opera house, so there is one thing to do and see (Can't understand opera in any language, so it's not an issue.) I need you experienced guys to fill in the rest of my list.
I also want some agency contacts in Kiev, JUST IN CASE TIM.
Look at me. It's just want, want, want. When I get back from my trip, I'll give, give, give...a detailed report.
Ditto! In Kiev I would sugest to visit the square of Independence, it's not only the most beautiful place IMHO, there you may meet many interesting people, singers, musicians, and so on:) I was there some time ago, but I had a very nice time, and though I spent in Kiev only 3-4 hours (waiting for the train back to Lugansk, I was returning from Chernovtsi) and the evening was really great!!!:) Also the Kreshyatik street is one for me on the top of the list, it's very pleasant to go for a walk in the evening there:) Also as it's rather warm now, I would sugest going somewhere close to the Dnepr:)
Ptichka is dead on, Kreshyatik is very beautiful, especially at night, but be aware of the Very high priced shops there, it is nice to window shop, but if you fancy a corronary, go in and ask a few prices of clothes for example :o))
IN the park where the Rainbow arc is there are spectacular views across the river and the huge valley below the cliff which half of Kyiv sits atop :o)
Have a blinding time mate, Kyiv is a beautiful city :o))
Scott, I cant be around much at the mo mate, so Im putting you in charge of emailing nme when Im needed ;o)))
I will have to see how things work out. I will probably try to see Kiev next year. As of right now, I am in the midst of planning my August trip to St. Petersburg.
I think your comment on the Dnepr is right on target. I have seen several pictures of some hills that overlook the Dnepr in Kiev. I imagine walking a path in the evening in those locations would be quite memorable!
