I think it would be rude to just bring gifts for the girl and nothing for the family. Anyone know what is highly appreciated by mothers in Russia? What do they don't have or would rather like it if it is from US? Thanks. "The history of the Golden Gate Bridge" or something like it would be well appreciated by any family anywhere in the world. Just imagine how important it is for her family to know what kind of place you're planning to take their daughter to live for eternity if all goes well. I have read where the parents appreciate gifts from other countries more so than Russia. Maybe it's the curiousity of it. Have you asked your girl what they would like or would that spoil the surprise? If you think of something nice, let me know also as I'm stumped too. For your ladie I would have at the very least a photo album of you and your family, your home, animals, your work ect.. I mean alot of photo's she'll like it, after you leave she will go through it over and over. also it would give her somthing to show off to her friends and anyone you didnt meet while you were there. I have a whole trunk load of stuff I am taking with me, I just gradually add to it. it will probably cost a fortune to get it there but all well. the girls mother im going to meet collects dolls so i bought a few really nice dolls. The picture album is actually the hardest to do, takes a little time, and finding or making enough photos to fill it. Anyway I did bye him a belt but I bought him an RM williams Belt. Very good quality and only available in Australia. Our priminister gave bush these brand boot when he visited America. GLTALLTOAD Member send PM   block PM add to buddies Send: 7/1/2004 1:30:44 PM   Forget the knife or any other sharp item, lol....if the father catches you trying to get into her daughter's panties before he decides it's appropriate, you may be bringing your knife stuck in your butt all the way home...:))) Regardless of what country your future father in law is, you must be out of your mind if you consider bringing booze and knives for him to play with. Never give these things together in the same trip!!! Bring him a book with lots of photographs the first time. Paper cuts never killed anyone. I'd not bring individual gifts, except for you lady on the first visit. After you establish a relationship you can observe and learn what everyone in the family likes, wants or even needs. you'll earn many cookie points for anticipating and surprising each family member by bringing something they did not expect. Other than the lady I'm coming to visit, everyone gets 'family' type gifts that all can enjoy. Like Tyson said, a large home made photo album that reflects all aspects of your life in your home town is a gift your honey and her family can enjoy over and over again. Make sure ALL photos of your ex-wife, ex girfriends and former or current lovers are kept off, lol... Marinka & Pitchka, How about family board games like Monopoly or others? In the end I just took some CD`s that she liked ( also 2 for her mom ). And the normal bear. My lady is proud and wont tell what she desires or needs without me hassling her. I found it best to buy something there. Go there and see what they need ! Often they are in need of something that they just cant afford to buy, My ladies TV broke, I think about 4 months ago. - Replacing it cuts more ice than some cheep tack that the will never use - although they will apprecate all the same. Be carefull not to flash the cash too much thou. I cant speek for all russians but my lady is carefull with money and showed consern with wasting cash- prefering to show her cooking skills than dine out - suggesting that I may need the money towards my next visit.
