Well I have not droped in much since my return from Cheboksary due to my busy life and lots of call's 2 russia.
My trip went better than I ever expected. So much so that we have now talked extensivly about visa`s. We want to apply for a visa on my next visit ( before the end of this month ).
Anyone with experiance of the British Embassy ?
Is it too soon to apply 4 a fiance visa?
Also my lady has phoned the embassy and they have said that if all is good she would be able to collect visa the next day. The seems to good to be true. What is the normal time span. I was expecting her to have to wait 6-8 weeks for an Interview.
Any advice welcomed PLZ...
Trad - congrats and best wishes, hope all goes well.
Thanks southern, sure you will have similar fortune, can't help I am afraid I can't help, I have not even worked out my own visa situation yet, she is Moldovan, but she was given a Romanian passport last week, this I believe makes things easier, but I have not looked into it at all yet
Southern:
the time scale you mention of 6-8 weeks is what is written most places but from experience I can tell you that is a hell of lot sooner if everything is in order.
The British Embassy has lots of faults but if all the the T's are crossed and the I's dotted then it is relatively plain sailing.
Inna had her interview within 2 weeks of applying and received her visa the same day!!!!
It's not too good to be true mate just do the homework when you fill in the forms. If I can be any more specific mail me and I'll get back to you ASAP.
Congratulations by the way.......:)))
You too Trad........:)))
Might be a married mens forum at this rate!!!!!.........LOL
What we have been told is that if we apply in the morning, She will have interview in the afternoon. I wish to be with her for the interview if only for support (if they let me attend). I dont want to fly to Moscow just to hand over some forms, neither do I want to miss supporting my Lady with her interview. Am doing my homework and hope to have everything in order. Glad how long was it between meeting Inna and when you applied for visa? How many meetings did you have first? I dont wana mess thing up with visa by rushing things. But we really are missing each other loads.
Southern:
Between Inna and I it was quite quick really......we knew everything was right between us and we applied for the interview before I returned to the UK.....so our timescale was about 4 and a bit weeks.
You will be able to accompany your lady to the embassy but it will not be possible to actually go into the interview with her.But you are doing the right thing by making sure everything is in order first.
It seems that the embassy is always impressed by a thorough approach.Even if it seems trivial.....record it...EG:photo's,letter's,phone bills, flight tickets....it all helps the interviewing officer build a picture of your relationship, and the more you can give him/her to support that the better.....Good Luck!!!
southerngentuk, my lady applied and got her interview two weeks later and her visa on the same day.
I think as long as you have plenty of proof that you are in a good relationship there is no problem.
I am now in the progress of booking flights for her to come over now.
Nisse - To be honest I having spent 1 hour in a taxi through Moscow and then staying in Cheboksary the two citys looked very similar, maybe this is the same in most city`s in Russia Large appartment Blocks and not much else. Autumn will be cold so you shall proberly not see much but snow. I was fortunate that weather was Great, maybe a little too hot. We took the boat over the river a few times were there is a sandy beach. I have loads of photos of the city, Email me direct and I shall send them to you if you like.
I got a flight from moscow and met my lady at the airport in cheboksary. It is a small airport and there is no worrys about finding your lady when you arrive (she was 1 of 4 people waiting there.) I think flights are 4 days a week from moscow.
The train i am told is also good. It leaves Moscow in about 6pm and arrives in cheboksary at about 7am. Whilst I was there we said fairwell to 1 of my lady's friends with her ameriician fiance. The trains looked good and all went well for them.
Any more details just ask.. feel frre to e-mail me direct if i dont answer in the forum ( am busy at the mo)
