A few years ago the postal services of some countries could offer a 'fax + post' service: You brought your document to your own post office, they sent it to a post office in the country of destination, where it was printed and then forwarded by mail. -it allowed 'next day delivery' to recipient with no internet or fax. I don't know whether it is still done by the postal services.
